Set photos from Hocus Pocus 2 show a modern Halloween festival in Salem. Released in 1993, Hocus Pocus quickly became a cult classic and one of the most popular Halloween films of all time. Starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, Hocus Pocus follows Max (Omri Katz), his younger sister, Dani (Thora Birch), their neighbor Allison (Vinessa Shaw), and a talking cat named Binx (Jason Marsden) as they attempt to defeat the trio of witches before they devour the souls of all the children in Salem, Massachusetts.

Last year, Disney announced that Hocus Pocus 2 was officially in the works. Slated to debut on Disney+ in the fall of 2022, Hocus Pocus 2 will feature the return of Midler, Parker, and Najimy as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson. Directed by Anne Fletcher, the sequel recently began filming in Rhode Island instead of Salem, Massachusetts. Earlier this month, Hocus Pocus 2 released the official synopsis, which hints that the Sanderson sisters are seeking revenge when they return 29 years later.

According to The Newport Daily News, Hocus Pocus 2 set photos reveal a modern Halloween-themed festival taking place in Salem. Banners are posted around the set that read "The 27th Annual Salem Scare Fest," and colorful festival booths are being built in the neighborhood that are decorated with festive names, such as “Sandy’s Candy Cauldron” and “Salem BOOtique.” Check out the set photos in the link below:

Set 29 years after Hocus Pocus, the sequel film will see Midler, Parker, and Najimy star in their original roles. Joining them is Doug Jones, who will reprise his role as Billy Butcherson. New additions to the cast include Whitney Peak (Becca), Lila Buckingham (Cassie), and Belissa Escobedo (Izzy) as three young women in present-day Salem who encounter the Sanderson sisters. Of course, Hocus Pocus 2 major plot details are being kept under wraps, but glimpses from the set have teased the sequel film will show flashbacks to the Sanderson sisters as kids, as well as their resurrection back to modern-day Salem.

Of course, Disney continues to drum up excitement for Hocus Pocus 2. Written by Jen D’Angelo, Hocus Pocus 2 has yet to reveal a first look at the official return of the children-hungry witches. At this time, it remains to be seen if original cast members Katz, Shaw, and Birch will make cameo appearances at Max, Allison, and Dani all grown-up. For now, it appears the fictional residents of Salem may encounter more than they bargain for at the Halloween festival if the Sanderson sisters saunter through. After a long wait, Hocus Pocus 2 is officially starting to conjure up some movie magic.
