Cher denies casting speculation that she will be in Disney's Hocus Pocus 2. Though the Goddess of Pop is primarily known as a music icon, she has strong acting roots. Growing up, Cher produced the musical Oklahoma! for her fifth grade class and idolized Hollywood stars. When she first got to Los Angeles, she enrolled in acting classes. As fate would have it, her unique vocals rose her to stardom. Of course, Cher soon showed the world how deep her storytelling skills go, starring in projects across mediums. Her unforgettable performance in Moonstruck earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress.

Cher more recently reminded the world of her movie star sparkle by appearing in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. The movie musical has a similar campy tone to Hocus Pocus, minus the spooky vibe. When a sequel for to the Halloween cult classic began production, director Ann Fletcher brought Cher's name into the conversation. Fletcher sent the internet ablaze with excitement when she said she wanted a stunning and ageless beauty like Cher for a role in the film (presumably a fellow Sanderson). After almost a year of speculation, the powerhouse has finally responded to the rumors.

Cher took to Twitter to shutdown her involvement with Hocus Pocus 2. She answered a fan who asked if it was true she'd appear in the film in a witchy role, simply saying, "No Babe." Check out the online exchange below:

The fan was disappointed to find out the rumors were unfounded. It wouldn't have been the first time Cher played a witch, after her unforgettable turn in the 80s romp The Witches of Eastwick. The legend also has a long friendship with Hocus Pocus matriarch Bette Middler (Winifred Sanderson), who appeared on The Cher Show in 1975. She's even inspired a vain Disney villain hellbent on staying young before, with Tangled director Byron Howard revealing that Cher was the muse for Mother Gothel's look.

While there's a track history of stars publicly denying involvement in projects to keep it a surprise, Cher's weigh in is likely true. For one thing, the superstar tends not to mince words on Twitter. A second hole in the theory is that many think Ted Lasso leading lady Hannah Waddingham will breathe life into either a fourth Sanderson Sister or possibly the mother of Winnie, Sarah and Mary Sanderson. Plus, Hocus Pocus 2 doesn't need to bring in an international celebrity like Cher when it has its original trio of stars in Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy audiences can't wait to see onscreen again.
