Dwayne Johnson's spinoff Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw has gotten a logo in the same style as the previous Fast & Furious installments. Johnson joined the Fast & Furious franchise in 2011's Fast Five, where he played Luke Hobbs: a muscle-bound federal agent determined to capture the then-fugitive Dominic Toretto and his family at all costs. By the end of the film, however, Hobbs was teaming up with Dom and his allies to battle the real bad guy (a drug lord responsible for killing Hobbs' men), and the two parted ways on much friendlier terms, despite remaining enemies.
Hobbs went on to become a key player in the Fast & Furious adventures that followed, fueled in part by Johnson's gains in popularity both outside and within the franchise. As a result, the character is getting a spinoff titled Hobbs & Shaw, where he will join forces with Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw - a mercenary and the villain in Furious Seven before he got a redemption arc in 2017's Fate of the Furious - to battle a terrorist named Brixton (Idris Elba). If the official logo is any indicator, however, Hobbs & Shaw will very much have the same look and feel as the mainline Fast & Furious sequels before it.

While the Hobbs & Shaw logo is aesthetically identical to the Fast & Furious movie logos before it, the film's naming scheme is a departure from the other sequels in the franchise. Presumably, this will set a precedent for future Fast & Furious spinoffs (like the as-yet untitled female Fast & Furious movie) to use "Fast & Furious Presents" in their titles, as a way of distinguishing them from the central movies in the series. At the same time, it calls further attention to the property's much-ridiculed inconsistent approach to titles in general. The practice began with the first sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and has continued on through to sequels that feature everything from extended titles (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) to titles that leave out either "Furious" (Fast Five) or "Fast" (Fate of the Furious) for no apparent reason.
Despite the franchise's increasingly confusing approach to titles, the Fast & Furious brand has only grown in popularity at the box office and improved its standing with critics in recent years. This has further allowed the series to attract top-notch acting and behind the scenes talent, which will continue to be the case with Hobbs & Shaw. In addition to Johnson, Statham, and Elba, the film's cast includes celebrated actors like Vanessa Kirby and Eddie Marson as cast members, with David Leitch - of Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2 fame - calling the shots as director. A roster of that caliber bodes well for the spinoff, whatever fans or Universal want to call it.
