Salma Hayek explains how The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard helped prepare her for Marvel's Eternals. Hayek has quite the 2021 ahead of her. The actress has four movies releasing this year, including Amazon's Bliss (which arrived in February) and House of Gucci. Next week will see the debut of The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, the sequel to the 2017 sleeper hit. Hayek reprises her role as Sonia Kincaid, the wife to Samuel L. Jackson's titular hitman. This time, though, Sonia takes on a bigger role as she aligns herself with bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) for protection.

Later this year, Hayek will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Eternals. She plays Ajak in the film, the leader of the titular team that also includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, and Angelina Jolie. Eternals sees the near-immortal beings emerge from the shadows to protect humanity after watching from afar for thousands of years. Directed by recent Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, Eternals is slated for November after being delayed from last year.

Though the two projects are quite different, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard proved to be beneficial for Hayek's Eternals prep. While speaking to ComicBook.com, Hayek touched upon the intense action sequences she had to perform for Eternals. It's been a few years since Hayek appeared in a stunt-heavy movie, but The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard helped her get ready for the Marvel flick. "The action scenes actually did help a lot... it took away some of the rust and they were very helpful for what came after, which is the Eternals," she said.

Interestingly, most of the action for Eternals remains a mystery, as the first trailer took a much more grounded approach to the Marvel movie. Of course, its placement as an MCU project promises there will be plenty of spectacle, and Hayek will be right at the center of it. The stunts for Eternals are likely quite different from those of The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, but just getting used to things like training and perfecting the moves on camera must've been very helpful.

With all four of her 2021 movies being wildly different, Hayek is really reminding audiences of her acting chops. From the comedy of The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard to the drama of House of Guccithe actress' many sides will be on full display. When it comes to her action moves, it'll be interesting to see if her stunts from Eternals appear to be influenced in any way by The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard. Even if they aren't, it's cool to see the June movie had some kind of impact on the Marvel flick.
