Exclusive: The Hitman's Bodyguard Blu-ray Trailer Is Hilariously NSFW

Surprise box office #1 The Hitman's Bodyguard is coming to home video - announced with a particularly NSFW trailer. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as a wisecracking Triple-A protection agent (the bodygaurd), who must protect former nemesis, sharpshooter Samuel L. Jackson (the hitman) so he can testify against a war criminal (played by Gary Oldman).

The film got mixed attention from critics, with the odd mix of serious narrative and jokey presentation (both Reynolds and Jackson are playing it funny), but it struck a chord with audiences, earning much stronger ratings and sitting at #1 at the domestic box office for three weeks at the end of Summer. Now it's coming home.

Lionsgate has announced that The Hitman's Bodyguard will be coming to home video this November - Digital HD on November 7, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 21 - with a host of special features. To celebrate the reveal, Screen Rant can exclusively share a trailer for the release that highlights Reynolds and Jackson's chemistry, as well as the film's extreme R-rated nature.

Scored to a version of the Scout song "Make New Friends" twisted to reflect the all-out bonkers nature of the film, the new trailer doesn't hold back. It's heavy on explosive action, violence and, of course, swearing, yet has such a peppy tone that really plays up the buddy movie lurking under the surface. While The Hitman's Bodyguard didn't need much help commercially thanks to its competition-light release window, promoting the film more overtly on this irreverent side could have really better shown what the movie was going for.

As the trailer promises, the home release also comes with a selection of bonus features. These vary depending on the format and are listed below:

4K ULTRA HD / BLU-RAY / DIGITAL HD SPECIAL FEATURES

• Outtakes

• Deleted Scenes

• Extended Scenes

• Alternate Scenes

• “The Hitman’s Bodyguard: A Love Story” Featurette

• “Hitman vs. Bodyguard” Featurette

• “Dangerous Women” Featurette

• “Big Action in a Big World” Featurette

• Director’s Commentary

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES

• “Big Action in a Big World” Featurette

• Director’s Commentary

Probably of most interest is the Extended and Alternate scenes, as they presumably offer up more of Reynolds and Jackson's aggressive back-and-forth and emerging bromance, although given how surprising Salma Hayek is in the film as Jackson's imprisoned wife, "Dangerous Women" is sure to be a highlight of the featurettes.
