Hitman 3 has only just been released, but already players are finding ways to complete its various levels in an eyewatering time, as one Speedrunner has finished the first level in a swift 17 seconds. The release of Hitman 3 wraps up the rebooted World of Assassination trilogy from IO Interactive. Reviews have already proclaimed that this last hurrah from Agent 47 is the best in the series and an environmental masterpiece.
The anticipation and hype for the latest addition to the Hitman franchise has only been whetted by IO Interactive itself. Fans were treated to a parade of new trailers and fresh gaming mechanics in the run up to the game’s eventual launch yesterday. When Hitman 3 finally went live, such was the demand for the latest assassination title that IO Interactives servers crashed on its launch.
Now, only a little more than 24 hours post release, a truly remarkable world record has been set. Frote7 shared their incredible record-breaking run on YouTube, which sees the gamer managing to complete the first level within Hitman 3 in a jaw dropping 17 seconds. The level, which is set in Dubai within the towering Sceptre skyscraper, sees Agent 47 taking out two members of Providence who had tried (and failed) to fake their own deaths. With the use of two well aimed head shots and a magnesium pouch to stun nearby NPCs, Frote7 is in and out of the mission before you can say “bald man with a barcode on his head”.
It is more than likely that Frote7 has made use of the persistent shortcuts that are a new feature within Hitman 3, to make this particular run so swift. Much like FromSoftware’s SoulsBorne games, the latest Hitman title now allows players to open up shortcuts, such as locked door or secured ladders, on a previous playthrough of a level. These shortcuts will then remain open whenever the level is revisited, allowing for new and creative ways for Hitman players to complete their assassination objectives.
There will certainly be other players out there with their eyes set on beating this incredible Hitman 3 record. Even with unlocked shortcuts, however, players and fellow speedrunners will have to be incredibly slick and skilled to be able to pull it off.
