In Hitman 3, Agent 47 will gain access to a multifunction camera that opens the door for a variety of new gameplay opportunities, though it won't serve as a full-on photo mode feature. With this upcoming Hitman entry, the crew at IO Interactive is taking great strides to ensure the last installment in the World of Assassination Trilogy is the most dynamic yet.

This much seems evident based on the new features that have, thus far, been teased. For example, Hitman 3 introduces the first instance of VR support in the series. Better yet, Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2 will retroactively receive VR functionality, too. Of course, players can also expect 47 to make use of high-end gear and other tools previously teased in gameplay trailers. Now IO Interactive is diving a bit deeper into the specifics.

In a brief gameplay video from Game Informer, Hitman 3's all-new multifunction camera is seen in action. A default item in 47's toolkit, IOI designed the camera as an "essential tool," useful for professional and miscellaneous purposes. The camera should prove beneficial for remotely unlocking doors and windows to access restricted areas. It additionally doubles as an investigative device. This notably comes into play in the latest gameplay video, wherein the assassin must take out his target's enemy and photograph the results to gain the target's trust. And players, especially those with a good eye, will be able to use the in-game camera to snap cool pictures. However, a full-blown photo mode it is not.

As photo modes continue to grow in popularity, some may find it disappointing to learn that Hitman 3 might not harbor such a feature. The game's stunning visuals certainly seem as though they're the perfect playground for gamers who like to dabble in or deeply explore video game photography. But all hope shouldn't be lost if Agent 47's next outing ships without a photo mode in tow. God of War (2018) received the feature in a free post-launch update, as did Remedy's Control. What IO Interactive has planned in this regard remains to be seen, though.

Because the release of Hitman 3 is nearly upon us, the developer continues to share new details. In turn, plenty of gameplay footage has been cropping up of late. Fans eager to see as much of the experience as possible ahead of time can even get a glimpse at the title's first five minutes of gameplay. It seems this trek in 47's shoes will be one well worth remembering.
