Marvel's Hit-Monkey creators Josh Gordon and Will Speck exclusively confirm having detailed plans for seasons 2 and 3 of the animated series. The Office Christmas Party duo first began development on the show in early 2019 as Hulu announced series orders for multiple projects including M.O.D.O.K., Tigra & Dazzler and Howard the Duck. The shows were planned to lead up to a crossover special entitled The Offenders, akin to Netflix's build-up to The Defenders, though plans were scrapped as Marvel Television was folded into Marvel Studios.

Marvel would elect to keep the ball rolling on M.O.D.O.K. and Hit-Monkey, with Gordon and Speck attached as showrunners and executive producers. The series revolves around the titular Japanese snow monkey as he is mentored by an American assassin's ghost to hunt down those responsible for the murder of the assassin and Hit-Monkey's entire clan. Featuring an ensemble cast led by Fred Tatasciore, Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Munn, Hit-Monkey is currently gearing up to hit Hulu.

While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant for the series, Marvel's Hit-Monkey creators Gordon and Speck revealed that they have "enormously detailed" plans for seasons 2 and 3. Though noting that they have nothing in writing with Marvel or Hulu to return, they remain optimistic about the show's future. See what Gordon and Speck said below:

Will Speck: "We don't have any future plans, in terms of no commitments, but in terms of a bible for the next 10 seasons, we have it very handy if you'd like to hear about it. [Laughs]"

Josh Gordon: "Certainly the second and third seasons were enormously detailed and drawn out. We wanted the first season to work as its own complete meal and it really does sort of operate almost like an extended feature in that way, where it has a very strong beginning, middle and end and it does stand alone. But in terms of where these characters would go, including Lady Bullseye, there's a lot to be had there."

Marvel's Hit-Monkey holds a gun

The folding of Marvel TV into Marvel Studios sent a shockwave through Hollywood when it was announced, marking a drastic change in the development of small-screen projects for the comic book studio. With the show having been set to be part of an interconnected Marvel universe for Hulu, it makes sense Hit-Monkey's creators would come up with a detailed outline for seasons 2 and 3. While it may be unclear whether the folding of the studio led to any changes in their plans, those eager to see the off-kilter character make his screen debut are sure to be happy to hear about outline for the future.

Though Marvel hasn't made any decisions on the future of its Hulu shows, the studio's allowance of creative freedom to Marvel's Hit-Monkey creators does show potential for it to continue. M.O.D.O.K. co-creator Jordan Blum has similarly opened up about Marvel's support of their series and that a second season is similarly planned out should the studio give the go-ahead, with its rave reviews certainly establishing it as a strong contender to continue. Only time will tell if critics and audiences respond to the series in the same vein when Hit-Monkey premieres on Hulu on November 17.
