While fans of The Hills have certainly enjoyed the newest spinoff The Hills: New Beginnings, changes may be on the horizon, as Heidi and Spencer Pratt recently shared the reason they may not be returning for season 3. The Hills: New Beginnings has given viewers a chance to catch up with some favorite cast members from the original show. Season 2 premiered in May 2021.

Heidi and Spencer are no strangers to drama, so it isn’t too surprising they are caught up in it once again. In the first few episodes of season 2, viewers have seen Speidi partying hard and getting pretty intoxicated. At one point, Heidi got so drunk she spilled her drink on Kaitlynn Carter, Brody Jenner’s ex-wife. Meanwhile, while Spencer was out with the guys, his long-time friend Brody pulled him aside to discuss if he was okay and whether or not he’s drinking to hide his problems at home.

According to Heidi and Spencer, things really escalated throughout this season. They believe the Hills: New Beginnings cast was out to get them and that they were likely jealous that the couple looked so good and were so liked by fans after season 1. In an interview with ET Online, Heidi said, “I felt very judged and mom-shamed because we had just been through a pandemic. We almost lost our business. We had a really hard time keeping employees, and we put all of our own money into PrattDaddy Crystals. It was a lot for us. So balancing that and a toddler and trying to have a new baby. There was just a lot going on for us and then feeling the pressure on and off camera from cast and production, it just was a lot.”

The couple said they noticed a significant change in the way the cast members treated them this time around compared to season 1 of The Hills: New Beginnings. Spencer told ET Online, “I would imagine if there was a season 3, it would be with an all-new cast because after this season, I don't see how everyone would be able to be in the same room once this airs.” It's a bit shocking that it seems Heidi and Spencer have had enough of the show to the point where they are voicing the idea they may not return for season 3 of The Hills: New Beginnings. This would be pretty devastating to fans of the show who think the spinoff is better than the original.

While it’s unclear what exactly goes down in the remainder of the season, it is very possible based on Heidi and Spencer’s comments that The Hills: New Beginnings is coming to an end, or at least their involvement in it. It sounds like whatever drama unfolded, it was worse than what went down on The Hills and was bad enough that Speidi may be done with the franchise for good. Could the show even survive without the fan-favorite couple? Could it work with an entirely new cast? It’s hard to say, but it’s pretty doubtful.
