The Hills: New Beginnings star Kaitlynn Carter is celebrating her first pregnancy alongside Brody Jenner's mom, Linda Thompson. Fans of the hit MTV series will recall when the former couple transferred the on-screen drama into real life when they called it quits in the midst of the first season airing. According to the duo, they couldn't find a mutual ground on important life events such as starting a family. They also often dealt with confusing rumors about their tendencies to participate in an open relationship. More shockingly, reports of their breakup brought to light the fact that they were never legally married. According to reports, the duo only celebrated a marriage ceremony in Bali without completing paperwork back in the United States. Ultimately, they ended their relationship about a year later. As all of the off-screen drama unfolded, Kaitlynn developed a very public relationship with the newly single Miley Cyrus.
A few years later, Kaitlynn is finally building the family she's always dreamed about with her boyfriend, Kristopher Brock. The mom-to-be announced the big news in a cute Instagram post showcasing her and Kristopher's shadows as they cradled her baby bump. The couple stayed at the Esperanza Resort, Auberge location in Mexico when the photos were taken. While many fans and cast members wished her a congratulations, it's notable that Leah James Felder, Brody's former sister-in-law, also wished them well.
Now that Kaitlynn's baby boy is almost here, the reality star threw herself a beautifully blue baby shower and documented the entire event on Instagram. "I really wanted a shower that felt more like a party, and that's exactly what I got," Kaitlynn wrote in her caption. "Thank you to my mom and sister and friends for making the day so memorable and perfect. It was very special to have everyone together in one place again and to let loose and laugh so much!" One of the invited guests spotted in the magnitude of photographs was Linda, who seemed honored to be part of her big day. "Thank you @kaitlynn for including me in such a beautiful celebration on the occasion of your baby shower," she wrote. "My whole family & I are wishing every happiness for you and your family! It is the profoundly beautiful adventure of motherhood upon which you are about to embark! You are radiant! All love and blessings now & forever."
Despite her split, Kaitlynn has remained friendly with Brody and his family. Kaitlynn has expressed numerous times that she considers Linda a second mom, as her family lives on the east coast and Brody's family is very close by. That said, Brody didn't exactly take the news of Kaitlynn's pregnancy lightly. As fans will recall in a July episode of the reality show, the budding DJ was disappointed to learn he was the last cast member she told about her big news. "I don't need to be the first one to know," he said at the time, "But I think I should be in the top 10."
Kaitlynn has been through an emotional rollercoaster these past few years, and it's refreshing to see her glowing as she finally starts her family. It's also inspiring to see how she was able to communicate with Brody after that tense episode to calm his fears and remain in a healthy space where they continue to support each other on their solo life events. Fans of The Hills: New Beginnings hope that MTV's cameras are rolling when Brody gets to meet Kaitlynn's baby for the first time.
