The Hills: New Beginnings star Heidi Montag is telling fans why she believes her former best friend, Lauren Conrad, didn't make as many smart business moves as their Hills co-star Kristin Cavallari. Since leaving the MTV show, the reality stars have been busy with their respective companies. Heidi is still married to her co-star Spencer Pratt. They share one child named Gunner together, as well as a company called Pratt Daddy that supports Spencer's passion for crystals. Lauren, on the other hand, developed two fashion lines, co-founded a fair trade online store, The Little Market, and published nine books. For Kristin's part, she designs her own lines of jewelry, homeware, clothing and beauty products for her company Uncommon James. Additionally, Kristin starred in her own spin-off series, Very Cavallari, for two seasons on E!

It's been over a decade since Lauren and Heidi went their separate ways in this world. The former best friends had a blowout fight when Spencer spread a rumor that he had a sex tape of Lauren and her former beau, Jason Wahler. Since then, Heidi talked about her relationship with Lauren on an episode of The Hills: New Beginnings. "She turned on me," she told Kristin. "She said, 'We're not friends. You're not on the show.' She didn't like Spencer. It's hard when you lose your best friend. That is such a deep wound."

In a new episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Heidi praised Lauren for no longer being desperate for fame but also slammed her for not becoming as rich and successful as she could have been. "I feel like Kristin, let's be honest, is the most successful. I feel like Lauren didn't make it like she should have. She should be Kylie [Jenner]. She was so good at makeup. She should have done the tutorials. If she had a good team, she'd be a billionaire. She'd be a hundred-millionaire," Heidi said. "She is not where she should have been at all. She has a Kohl's line. Great, whatever. But she should be a hundred-millionaire. Are you kidding me? Who gets that big promotion, that big fame, that big engine behind her, the loved one, the this-and-that? The narrator--no one even gets the narrator show. Kylie didn't get a narrator show. She should be so rich."

Lauren Conrad crying on The Hills

The 34-year-old Hills reality star continued to explain that while she'll "always love" Lauren, she resented her behavior when the MTV cameras were rolling. "When that whole Spencer thing happened, she's like, 'If you date Spencer, you're off the show," Heidi said. "How dare you? And I'm not your dog. Yeah, I appreciate you getting me on this show, but that doesn't mean you own me and you can tell me what to do in my life. I just don't appreciate that."

Though Lauren and Heidi's picture-perfect friendship didn't last, some of reality TV's most iconic one-liners and moments came from their eventual ending. Since then, Lauren has completely moved on from The Hills, but it seems Heidi is still stuck in her ways of gripping onto fame in the best way she knows how. The Hills: New Beginnings star Heidi's harsh words could be coming from a place of anger, or it could be a scheme to get Lauren on the reboot series. Either way, the rest is still unwritten.
