The reality TV phenomenon The Hills is back with the grown-up reboot The Hills: New Beginnings. The original show aired for six seasons, focusing on the professional and personal lives of young women from Los Angeles, California. This hit MTV show reboot lets fans follow up with old relationships and all-new drama.
With almost a decade since the original series, The Hills: New Beginnings will feature some of the show's original cast, such as Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt, as well as Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Brody Jenner, Justin Bobby Brescia, Audrina Patridge, Jason Wahler, and Frankie Delgado. However, one of the biggest stars of the show will not be coming back to The Hills: New Beginnings: Lauren Conrad. She is now a well-known fashion designer, New York Times best-selling author, philanthropist, and mom, as well as currently pregnant with her second baby. Fans may be disappointed by the fact that LC won't be joining The Hills: New Beginnings, but it's understandable why she has since said goodbye to the reality TV world.
On The Hills, there was a scandal between costars when Lauren was dating former boyfriend Jason Wahler, when rumors of a sex tape first surfaced in between filming Season 2 and 3 of The Hills. This ended up sparking a feud between Lauren and Heidi. Lauren always believed that Spencer and Heidi were behind leaking the rumor, though they denied any involvement. Heidi and Lauren's friendship was over after Heidi began dating Spencer, and Heidi opened up about the feud on Good Morning America last week while talking about the show's revival. She said:
"I’d be willing to move forward and put things behind us ... We would never be the way that we were again, but it would be fun to maybe catch up one day ... I actually was kind of excited Lauren wasn’t on it because I felt like it was more freeing and fair for me."
Lauren won't be the only original cast member from The Hills not returning for the reboot. Kristin Cavallari has since moved on to yet another reality show as host of Paradise Hotel. That said, the reboot will include two new regulars, including Brandon Lee (son of Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson) and The O.C.'s Mischa Barton.
Fans may not be able to see Heidi and Lauren sit down and put their differences and past hurt behind them for now, but The Hills: New Beginnings will be just that - a chance for fresh starts. That said, it'll also be interesting to see how the original cast members will respond to the newcomers, and it's possible that there will be more than enough drama to make up for Lauren's absence.
The Hills: New Beginnings premieres Monday, June 24 at 10pm EST on MTV.
