As of August 31st, the Harry Potter movies will no longer be available on HBO Max. So far, fans could watch the entire saga of Harry Potter in this streaming service, alongside the Fantastic Beast movies, but Peacock will once again obtain the rights for the original saga.

Harry Potter is one of the most relevant books and movies ever made, with millions of fans all over the world. However, even this beloved product contains some pretty disastrous flaws, and fans all over the internet have shared the most impressive moments in which Harry Potter makes no sense at all.

How Come The Basilisk's Venom Didn't Affect Harry's Horcrux?

In the seventh book, the Golden Trio realizes that Basilisk's venom is a substance strong enough to destroy Horcruxes. When Harry uses the basilisk's tusk to destroy Tom Riddle's diary, he inadvertently manages to kill off one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. However, the fandom still wonders why Harry's Horcrux wasn't destroyed when the basilisk bit him.

There may be answers to this question, but the book doesn't provide them. Maybe the fact that Fawkes healed Harry means he also healed the Horcrux. However, contemplating the way in which Horcruxes react when they're attacked, it's at least weird that nothing dramatic happened at this moment, such as Harry connecting to Voldemort, or his body reacting in an unexpected way.

Dumbledore's Favoritism For Harry Is Too Obvious

Hogwarts is definitely not a regular school. For starters, for a place filled with children, it contains plenty of dangerous things, such as the Whomping Willow, Fluffy, or even moving stairs that present an everyday hazard. However, the worst part is that Dumbledore seems to be interested in only helping Harry.

An unpopular opinion about Hogwarts is that the school doesn't really help students other than Harry. When Harry needs a broom for Quidditch, he immediately gets an expensive one, even though he's the first year, and he isn't even supposed to play Quidditch. However, the rest of the school has to use old mediocre brooms, and students with financial problems like the Weasleys don't receive money for their school supplies. Ron even has to use a damaged wand for most of his second year.

Hogwart Is A School That Villanizes A Group Of Children

As everyone knows, Hogwarts divides the students by their personality traits. However, having a house filled with children that are supposed to be "evil" is plain weird. On top of that, Slytherin and Gryffindor's rivalry usually results in most of the staff ignoring the existence of the other two houses.

Growing up, most readers didn't question Hogwart's dynamics. But as adults, it's pretty easy to notice how messed up they are. Plus, what's supposed to be healthy competition between the students, tends to become an unhealthy dynamic that's prone to bullying and unfriendliness between the houses. Furthermore, Gryffindors and Slytherin are not even that different, in reality.

Harry Literally Didn't Have To Save The Philosopher's Stone

Although ultimately Harry's Horcrux needed to be destroyed in order for Voldemort to be defeated, Harry wasn't necessarily the one who should have stopped him. In the first book, Harry decides he needs to protect the Philosopher's Stone, but Dumbledore already had a plan for the stone to be protected.

In other books, Harry takes more responsibility than he should as well. Harry's heroics usually get him into a lot of trouble, such as when Voldemort manipulated him so he would go to the Ministry of Magic to save Sirius Black. In which case, if once again Harry had done nothing, everything would have turned out alright.

Harry's Children's Names Are Completely Absurd

There are few things in the Harry Potter books that make less sense than Harry's chosen names for his children. Although James Sirius is not so bad since James was his father and Sirius his godfather, Albus Severus is simply strange. Dumbledore trained Harry for most of his life so he could die to save the world, and Snape made Harry's life impossible at Hogwarts, even if he was allegedly trying to help him.

However, there were other people in Harry's life who actually cared deeply about him and tried to keep him safe. People such as Hagrid, the Weasley family, Dobby, and Remus Lupin. On top of that, it seems like Ginny wasn't allowed to give any input into her children's names.

Hogwarts Has Very Inconsistent Rules

The way children are treated by adult wizards is one of the most disturbing aspects of wizarding society in Harry Potter. In the first book, it's evident that Hagrid takes Harry to Hogwarts against his guardian's wishes. Petunia and Vernon even try to hide in a very isolated place to avoid Hogwart's letters. Even though they were terrible guardians to Harry, Hagrid still took Harry to the magical school without any sort of bureaucratic procedure in place, and he even attacks their son.

When Harry wants to visit Hogsmeade, it's crucial he gets his uncle's signature on the permission slip. However, Harry consistently leaves the school grounds against his legal guardian's permission or even without them knowing about it, such as when he spends holidays with the Weasley family, or when he accompanies Dumbledore to visit different places., which proves how inconsistent laws are in magical society.

Harry Is The Only Student Who Wears Glasses

Harry's glasses are an emblematic part of his character. They've even become a symbol for the Harry Potter books and films. However, even though there are other older characters who wear glasses, such as Dumbledore or McGonagall, Harry seems to be the only teenager who needs this aid.

On top of that, the mere fact that Harry needs glasses is simply unbelievable. In a world where people can live more than 600 years (Nicholas Flamel) and can grow back their bones (such as Harry did in the second book), it makes no sense that there isn't a spell to fix these problems.

Even though Harry was technically already an adult when Lupin asked him to be his son's godfather, he hadn't even graduated school yet. The kind of responsibility that was bestowed upon him when he was still basically a child, it's one of the things that make less sense in Harry Potter.

At this point, Harry was already left with the responsibility of facing one of the most powerful wizards in history, with only the help of two other teenagers. On top of that, at a time when a lot of time people were dying, Lupin assigned Harry the responsibility of taking care of his son in case something happened to him. Fortunately, Tonk's mother, Andromeda, had the common sense of raising Teddy herself or Harry would have been a single dad at the age of 17.

Dumbledore Is The Real Villain Of The Books

Even though Vernon and Petunia weren't good legal guardians, Harry was never about to die when they were in charge of him. However, Harry faced uncountable life and death situations under Dumbledore's protection, and ultimately, Dumbledore was going to sacrifice Harry to defeat Voldemort.

The way wizards treat children simply makes no sense. It seems that even if Vernon wasn't a good guardian, Dumbledore was even worse. On top of that, even if the Dursleys were horrible to Harry, Dumbledore let them get away with it for almost 17 years, one of his worst actions in the Harry Potter books.

Veritaserum Only Exists When It's Convenient

Most plots in Harry Potter crumble if readers consider the existence of Veritaserum. Dumbledore would know if any of his teachers were after the Philosopher's Stone if he had interrogated them under the influence of this potion, Sirius wouldn't have gone to jail, and Dumbledore would have known who put Harry's name on the Goblet of Fire, for example.

Even though this potion is extremely difficult to prepare, it's unbelievable that the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore didn't have any of it when they needed it. The fact that wizards even incarcerate people without using Veritaserum demonstrates how negligent they are.
