However, Ricky and Nini's story were just one of many that were being told, and as the series evolved, the characters and relationships evolved with it. For most of the castmates, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series wasn't their first gig. There are plenty of other onscreen projects where viewers can spot the actors from the show.

Kait Reinders (Miss Jen)

Miss Jen is an interesting character who brings something special to the series. Sometimes, the kids have to teach her, and the give and take is what makes such a good dynamic. Miss Jen might not be a star like she claims, but Kait Reinders had been in plenty of projects before booking the Disney Plus gig. She appeared in Modern Family and Ugly Betty, but one of her most notable roles was Kelly in the ABC comedy, Work It. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after the first season.

Matt Cornett (E.J. Caswell)

E.J. evolved over the course of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 1, and he went from the antagonist to someone who was worth rooting for. His relationship with Nini made viewers see him as the enemy, but he ends up apologizing for everything he did to manipulate her. Matt Cornett appeared in TV series such as Criminal Minds and The Goldbergs and will be starring in the Disney musical, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3, which is currently in pre-production.

She was a series regular in the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark, starred in the film Grace Stirs Up Success, and even appeared in an episode of New Girl.

Julia Lester (Ashlyn Caswell)

Benjamin was originally against the drama club and even made an enemy out of Miss Jenn. However, he's come a long way and his relationship with Miss Jenn has evolved greatly. Although most of his television roles were short-lived, Mark St. Cyr has been in an impressive amount of shows. He appeared in Chicago P.D.Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and has plenty of projects in post-production.

Following the show's first season, Joshua Bassett released an EP and continued to work on his music career. Acting-wise, he's appeared in some other productions before High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, such as Stuck in the Middle and Grey's Anatomy.

Joe Serafini (Seb)

Seb excelled at the role of Sharpay in the musical, and he is easily one of the most talented of the entire cast. His vocals are incredible and his energy is contagious. Seb is kind and sweet to those around him, but he's not afraid to go after what he wants. It's shocking because of the actor's skills, but Joe Serafini wasn't in many onscreen productions before High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The show is his first real project, other than voicing Axel in Scientastic! back in 2010.
