Several new series are coming to anime streaming service, HIDIVE, this Fall. Among them will be the newest adaptation of a 1970s to 80s classic manga. Fans of Urusei Yatsura have been highly anticipating the latest adaptation, but HIDIVE has announced additional upcoming series to the service.

HIDIVE is an anime streaming service associated with Sentai Filmworks, which is owned by AMC Networks as of January 2022. Since 2017, the service has provided anime fans with Dubcasts (simulcast dubs) and some exclusive series not found on other anime streaming sites, such as Tokyo Mew Mew New, Yuki Yuna is a Hero: The Great Mankai Chapter, and Gakuen Basara: Samurai High School, among others.

Urusei Yatsura will join these series, as Rumiko Takahashi's hit series brings back Invader Girl Lum. Takahashi is also known for creating Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2, both of which also had popular anime adaptations. This series is being brought to fans by the directors and production team behind JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. Lum will be voiced by Sumire Uesaka, while Hiroshi Kamiya (the voice of Levi in Attack on Titan) voices Ataru Moroboshi. The previous anime series was released in 1981 and ran until 1986, so this will bring Takahashi's story to a whole new generation of viewers.

In addition to Urusei Yatsura, HIDIVE also announced several series acquisitions recently. These include Bibliophile Princess, Akiba Maid War, Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit, My Master Has No Tail, Love Flops, The Eminence in Shadow, and Management of a Novice Alchemist. Many of these series are adaptations of manga and light novels. Bibliophile Princess is a historical drama produced by studio Madhouse which produced NANA and Death Note. It is a Josei series that has been serializing since 2018 and has been releasing in North America since 2020 thanks to J-Novel Club. My Master Has No Tail adapts the seinen Kodansha series of the same name by TNSK. The Eminence in Shadow, is based on the hit isekai light novel series by Daisuke Aizawa, which has been published in English by Yen Press.

Contrarily, Akiba Maid War is an original anime from P.A. Works (Ya Boy Kongming!) and Cygames (Zombie Land Saga), which focuses on maid cafés and is set in 1999 Akihabara. Love Flops is also an original series, blending science fiction and romantic comedy. It is created by KADOKAWA, known for Made in Abyss and No Game, No Life. This varied lineup presents many options for anime fans of different genres. Nonetheless, the biggest draw is still the newest adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura, which fans will finally get the chance to see this fall alongside these other anime adaptations and original series on HIDIVE.
