In an interview with Famitsu, Hideo Kojima reportedly hinted that his crew at Kojima Productions is working on two different games. Speculation about Kojima's next project(s) has been swirling for months now, thanks in large part to uncorroborated rumors that make the rounds every so often.

One such rumor, for example, claims the legendary designer inked an exclusive deal with Microsoft for an Xbox title. Yet another suggests Sony is acting as a mediator in an attempt to join forces with Kojima and Konami for a Silent Hill revival. And, of course, who can forget the never-ending saga that is the Blue Box Game Studios conspiracy theory? The man himself has yet to confirm or deny any of the above. Whenever questions about future plans do pop up, Kojima merely teases what he'd like to do, often sharing his interest in the horror genre and unique gameplay systems. However, a recent interview may feature a few hints about what the Metal Gear Solid creator and his team at Kojima Productions have up their ever-secretive sleeves.

Speaking with Japanese publication Famitsu (via Wccftech), Hideo Kojima teased Kojima Productions' next endeavors. The translated version of the article sees the developer make mention of "big titles and new challenging titles," which some have interpreted as a hint that the group is producing no less than two new games. Because the Famitsu piece revolves around a series of creators and their "2022 aspirations," Kojima additionally noted the new year will mark his studio's first steps into entertainment mediums beyond gaming.

Kojima's comments about spreading his wings outside of games hardly come as a surprise, considering the recent launch of Kojima Productions' film and TV division. However, the "big titles and new challenging titles" bit leaves a lot open to interpretation. Maybe he does have two different games in the works, yet it's also possible that something was lost in translation.

Regardless of the finer details, such a tease follows on the heels of Hideo Kojima sharing a "Holiday Card" boasting artwork from his longtime collaborator Yoji Shinkawa. The art in question most notably featured three previously unseen characters, all of whom donned garb paying homage to Kojima Productions-related iconography. Naturally, theories abound with regards to whether or not the three figures are in any way connected to the studio's next big project.
