The next game from legendary developer Hideo Kojima will apparently use Xbox cloud technology to create the project of his dreams. The gaming auteur is known for creating the Metal Gear Solid series and forging the franchise over several decades before going independent and creating Death Stranding. The industry icon made a surprise appearance during the recent Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase event, revealing that the next Hideo Kojima game uses the Xbox cloud in some way. Details are currently vague, but this revolutionary technology could make for a truly innovative Kojima production.

Starting out as an assistant designer on a 1986 game called Penguin Adventure, Hideo Kojima made his directorial debut with 1987's Metal Gear. Considered by many to be the first true stealth game, the title delivered innovative gameplay and a distinct style that Kojima would build upon over the course of nearly three decades and eight sequels. However, Kojima split with series publisher Konami following the release of 2015's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Kojima Productions became an independent studio, developing post-apocalyptic postman simulator Death Stranding which released on PlayStation 4 in 2019. While PlayStation games from Kojima Productions could still happen, the developer's next game will be a partnership with Xbox Game Studios instead.

Due to Death Stranding's PlayStation exclusivity, many gamers were surprised to learn that Hideo Kojima will now collaborate with Xbox Game Studios on his next title. Revealed during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 event, the mysterious project will apparently be a game that Kojima has always wanted to make. The brand-new experience will reportedly utilize Microsoft's cutting-edge cloud technology to bring the never-before seen concept to life, but how it does so remains to be seen.

Kojima's Next Game Could Change Based On The Player's Info

While the title and exact details of Kojima's next game remain a mystery, the gaming icon will no doubt make clever use of Microsoft's cloud technology. In the past, Kojima's discussed games that change in real time based on the player's location and how they feel about the experience, and Microsoft's cloud tech could finally make this concept a reality. Rumors suggest that Kojima Productions is working on a horror game, and cloud technology could enhance the terror by collecting data on the player. Time of day could accurately reflect the real world, with the game growing darker as the sun sets on Earth, and the title could even reach out to spook players through emails or phone calls. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Death Stranding also include online components where the actions of one player can affect another player's world, and Kojima's next game could use Microsoft's cloud technology to build upon this interconnected experience.

While a Hideo Kojima horror game called Overdose supposedly leaked before Summer Game Fest, the title has yet to be formally revealed or confirmed. The only information about Kojima's partnership with Xbox Game Studios is that it will make use of Microsoft's cloud to create a completely original gaming experience. The Metal Gear creator wants to make a game that changes based on the individual playing it, and Microsoft's cutting-edge cloud tech could finally make Hideo Kojima's dream a reality, even if exclusive to Xbox platforms.
