A trailer for Overdose, a new horror game from developer Hideo Kojima, has reportedly been leaked online. The gaming icon is well-known for creating the Metal Gear stealth franchise along with 2019's post-apocalyptic postman simulator Death Stranding. A Hideo Kojima horror game has been a long time coming, and Overdose seems to finally be bringing that concept to life.

Hideo Kojima's classic title Metal Gear, released in 1987, propelled the Japanese game designer into stardom. Putting players in the boots of special operative Solid Snake, the classic MSX2 title is considered by many to be the first true stealth video game. Metal Gear spawned a long line of sequels, with Kojima personally helming the franchise until 2015's Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. After the open-world title's release Kojima Productions broke away from publisher Konami and went independent, paving the way for 2019's Death Stranding. The next Hideo Kojima game will be experimental, according to the man himself, and Overdose seems to deliver on that promise.

A report from Try Hard Guides claims that a trailer for a Hideo Kojima horror game, apparently titled Overdose, has been leaked. The website claims to have seen this trailer, which apparently features Death Stranding actress Margaret Qualley. The leaked trailer reportedly shows Qualley walking through dark corridors with a flashlight, with a jump scare at the end revealing Kojima's involvement and the Overdose title. The Kojima Productions YouTube Channel appears to include an unlisted video, though it is unclear how long the video has been there and it does not confirm an impending reveal. The developer's new Facebook page, announced by Kojima Productions on Twitter, may also hint at an upcoming announcement.

While the game has not been officially revealed, Overdose could finally deliver something close to the Hideo Kojima Silent Hill game that fans so desperately desire. Back in 2014 Kojima released P.T., a first-person horror experience that was intended to be an interactive teaser for a new Silent Hill game. This horror game, titled Silent Hills, would have been a collaboration between Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. Unfortunately, this terrifying title was cancelled when Kojima Productions gained independence from Konami. Still, if the recent leak is actually legitimate it is likely that Overdose will incorporate many of Kojima's ideas for Silent Hills.

Hideo Kojima fans have eagerly awaited the developer's next game, and Overdose may finally deliver a unique horror experience built by the beloved auteur. A reunion with Death Stranding actress Margaret Qualley is also an exciting concept, but until an official announcement this exciting game remains a mere rumor. Summer Game Fest is quickly approaching, and perhaps Hideo Kojima will make an exciting appearance to officially unveil Overdose.
