The renowned developer Hideo Kojima says he was recently "depressed" after watching Fast and Furious 6 on TV, noting his envy for the film's editing. Hideo Kojima is known for his incredibly beloved games, but despite being gaming's biggest auteur and having tons of creative freedom, he still seems to fall victim to imposter syndrome. Hideo Kojima is reportedly working with Xbox on his next game.

Hideo Kojima has a bit of a history of publicly expressing his admiration for other games and films. As a big lover of entertainment, he has given numerous takes on films and also commended other developers. In 2013 and 2014, Hideo Kojima expressed that Grand Theft Auto V also depressed him on two separate occasions. At the time, believed he wouldn't be able to match the quality of Rockstar's open-world game in Metal Gear Solid V and felt even worse after seeing the game's remaster.

Hideo Kojima has a love for editing, as he edits many of the trailers for his games and likes to have a very hands-on approach to everything he makes. That said, any ego he may have is apparently being kept in check as he was envious of the editing of Fast and Furious 6 after seeing it on TV. Kojima also noted he's self-taught in many of his skills, getting much of his knowledge from watching movies. It's possible the gaming legend could take some pointers from the Fast and Furious franchise.

Given Hideo Kojima released a game that is largely about walking with large packages on the main character's back and was able to still receive acclaim for it, it's probably safe to say Hideo Kojima hasn't lost his touch yet. With Hideo Kojima's admiration of cinema, it's safe to say he will always have new pieces of inspiration he can learn from and likely also be envious of. That said, it has only benefited thus far in his career.

It remains to be seen how Hideo Kojima will use his inspirations and knowledge in his next game, which has yet to be revealed. It's heavily rumored to be a cloud-based horror game, something he wanted to do with Google Stadia, but there's no confirmation as of yet. It likely won't be too long before Xbox and Hideo Kojima disclose more details, but until then, it seems like the developer will be studying the Fast and Furious films.
