Disney+ recently added the "Mature" rated The Defenders saga to the streaming service. These shows made some parents nervous about their children watching what is on Disney+. However, with a few added precautions like account password protection, Disney has worked to make parents feel secure.

That being said, there is no shortage of great shows for kids to watch on the streaming platform. For parents that have burned through all the mainstream shows, there are a bunch that are slightly more hidden but are still great for kids and won't only keep them entertained, but will teach them things as well.

Duck Tales

Whether it's the version that aired in the last 80s or the one that aired in 2017, Duck Tales still holds up today for kids of all ages. Duck Tales is based on the book and comic series of the same name and follows Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby, and Scrooge as they go on epic adventures.

Scrooge's mysterious, yet epic, past is what brings on these new and wild adventures that the crew goes on. Kids will be enthralled by these classic and beloved characters trying out new things, going new places, and learning something new with each episode. This show is guaranteed to spark the imagination of any kid who watches it.

Doug

For kids who are a little bit older, Doug is a great show. Doug is a series about a young boy who uses his journal to talk about his life and help him get through it. Doug himself narrates the show in his journal, and some parts are even made up as he uses his imagination to embellish the story.

This show is great for kids who are learning to make friends, how to fit in at school and how to deal with bullies as the show tackles topics such as those. Not only that, but Doug encourages the resource of writing out one's feelings as well as being creative on how to handle situations.

Higglytown Heroes

This preschool show is unique in that it shows that everyone can be a hero. Fans follow Eubie, Wayne, Twinkle, Kip, and their friend Fran the squirrel as they go around Higglytown to find all the heroes. Seeing every job done in the town as being run by a hero helps kids see that truly anyone can be a hero.

Higglytown Heroes also helps instill the importance of teamwork as the town runs well because each person is doing their job and being a hero. The show also lets kids see that any job can be fun and fulfilling instead of only idolizing jobs that are more traditionally praised in media.

Lizzie McGuire

The Disney Channel classic Lizzie McGuire has been loved by fans for twenty years. This show follows Lizzie and her cartoon alter-ego as they tackle being in junior high. Her friends Gordo and Miranda, her brother Matt, her nemesis Kate, and her parents tag along and create episodes that make fans laugh and cry for her character as she goes through situations that are both too relatable as well as ones that seem impossible.

If the show isn't enough, there is also the iconic Lizzie McGuire Movie, which pushes the series' realism, but Lizzie and her friends go to Italy and have an adventure that's fun for kids to watch.

Out Of The Box

For any parents looking to spark some real creativity in their kids, Out of the Box is the show to turn to. This show literally takes place inside a makeshift clubhouse that is made of painted boxes. Every episode some neighborhood kids go into the clubhouse and do a variety of creative activities with Tony and Vivian who are the two adults in the show.

From making music to acting out stories, and playing games to singing songs, these kids are always working on something that is stimulating their brains and can be done in anyone's home.

Fancy Nancy

The show Fancy Nancy is based on the beloved children's books with the same title written by Jane O'Connor. Nancy, who is suggested to be around six years old, has a big imagination. She is known for taking the ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary. The show tackles topics like going to work with her parents, how she handled her fish dying, and everything in between.

Nancy always finds a way to spin things so that there is a positive outlook or so that the activity is fun. Although not confirmed, the kid's show also represents the LGBTQ community in the episode "Nancy Plays Dress Up" where it even won a GLAAD award nomination. Sometimes Nancy needs the help of her family and friends, but in the end, Nancy manages to use her imagination every day.

Imagination Movers

The crew of Imagination Movers, Rich, Scott, Dave, and Smitty, rock out in each episode as they work together to help solve problems. This show is geared toward preschoolers and covers problems like learning how to dance and how to move something that is too heavy for them to lift.

Imagination Movers combines music, teamwork, and creativity in each episode to solve the problems they encounter. Their friends Nina, and Warehouse Mouse often join them in solving the "idea emergencies."

Nature Boom Time

Nature Boom Time is the perfect show for any kids that are interested in learning about the world outside of their home - specifically trees. Charlie, Kirby, and Patrick travel around the world exploring and explaining different types of trees.

Each episode is less than ten minutes making it the perfect segway to more exploration. It explores trees both on land and in the water and gives a little bit of science and history on each one in hopes to educate and inspire kids to want to learn more about nature.

Handy Manny

A show about learning to go with the flow, how to make a quick fix, working as a team, and learning a little bit of Spanish along the way is Handy Manny. Manny and his tools go around town helping the people fix things that have broken and making things they need. In each episode, the tools and Manny teach viewers a lesson from tool safety to being flexible about plans.

This show is a great way to introduce construction tools, basic fixing knowledge, an introduction to Spanish speaking, and a wonderful way to teach kids how to learn how to be helpful to others, even when they may not be able to fix it themselves. Although it may not be the best Disney Channel animated show, it's still well worth a watch for kids.

Rolie Polie Olie

Rolie Polie Olie is a show about a robot and his family and their adventures. Olie lives in a world where everything comes to life, from their house to the plants. The family has adventures that range from normal life occurrences like their goofy uncle visiting town, to them exploring space.

This family-oriented show is great for kids of all ages as there are aspects of it that are geared towards older kids and aspects that are geared toward younger kids. This older show still holds up and tells a great story. By the end of the show, kids will have a favorite character and want to dress up as a robot.
