The popular manga and recently returned anime series called My Hero Academia has produced some of the best cosplays ever seen in the nerd community, with a new cosplay of the current series villain, Tomura Shigaraki, dialing up the scare factor for a bad guy that’s already incredibly horrifying as it is!

Recently shared to the r/cosplay channel on Reddit, Bryan Dracule (u/BZNintendo) is an “Artist, designer, cosplayer, and creator of various outfits and tabletop/card/board games,” with the cosplay part of this impressive list of skills acting as the focus of his latest creative endeavor. Having also pulled off an unexpectedly awesome cosplay as the sand-powered Gaara from Naruto fame previously, Bryan’s Shigaraki look is not only similarly manga-accurate but with a little bit of digital tweaking to set the mood of the piece, a live-action costume adaptation that translates perfectly to a real-world setting as well.

The leader of the group of villains known as the Paranormal Liberation Front, Tomura Shigaraki is a kind of evil that knows no bounds. Taught by the ultimate My Hero Academia baddie, All For One, Shigaraki’s Quirk is called “Decay,” which gives him the ability to disintegrate whatever and whomever he touches whether organic or inorganic in nature. Also sporting the clamped-on hands of his deceased family members that Shigaraki accidentally killed when his Quirk manifested, Bryan’s cosplay brings to life this evil character in a way that sends chills up the spines of anyone who sets eyes on it.

Dressed in Shigaraki’s signature black coat, red shoes, and of course, the remains of his dead family on his arms, shoulders, head, and face, Bryan’s design nails the aesthetic of a villain whose look is often celebrated for being original and horrifying in equal measure. Also wearing a grayish-blue wig to match Shigaraki’s ruffled hair, Bryan stands in an eerie and spooky sort of way, with his cosplay and in-character pose amplified by the added visual edit of Bryan standing in the middle of a rain-drenched city block, no doubt ready to battle the next hero to step in his way.

Only the first picture in a set of 14 different photos that fans can flip through, Bryan’s manga-accurate cosplay design is not just a lesson in great cosplaying but shows off just how well a Shigaraki costume can look in live-action too. My Hero Academia’s Tomura Shigaraki is a scary villain on the page and screen, and now, with Bryan Dracule’s cosplay, he’s terrifying in a whole new way!
