Rumors are already swirling for Disney's live-action Hercules remake for casting on the film and Bruce Campbell is sharing his thoughts on his fancasting. Campbell is best known for his work in the horror genre, leading the Evil Dead franchise as protagonist Ash Williams as he faced the demonic threat known as the Deadites spawned by the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. Campbell is also known for his frequent collaborations with writer/director Sam Raimi outside of the Evil Dead series, making appearances in the original Spider-Man trilogy, Darkman and most recently Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Disney's Hercules acted as an animated adaptation of the Greek mythology about the eponymous son of Zeus as he is kidnapped from Mount Olympus by Hades' demons and later trains with satyr Philoctetes to become a true hero and earn back his godhood by defeating the lord of the Underworld. Though considered a financial disappointment at the time, Hercules scored largely favorable reviews and kept the Disney Renaissance alive in the late '90s with the likes of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Disney is gearing up to bring Hercules back to life with a live-action remake and fans are already eagerly submitting their thoughts on who should lead the cast.

Just days after the remake was announced, one fan took to Twitter with a rumor headline that Bruce Campbell was approached for the live-action Hercules to play Hades. Campbell responded to the post, confirming it only to be an "inter-web rumor," but expressing his interest in taking on the part. See Campbell's response below:

Campbell is well-known for frequently responding to fan theories and fancastings on social media, namely back-and-forth reports on whether he was set to appear in Spider-Man 4 as Mysterio, which he frequently debunked until Raimi's recent confirmation of the scrapped plans. In the original Hercules movie, Hades was voiced by James Woods, whose performance scored rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and is considered one of the most iconic Disney animated characters alongside Robin Williams' Genie. While Campbell's response to the live-action Hercules Hades casting may not offer much in the way of insight to whether he is actually in consideration for the role, his confirmation of being interested in the part is sure to spark interest in fans of both the character and star.

Anticipation for the live-action Hercules remake remains divided upon the recent announcement that Aladdin's Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct the film with Avengers: Endgame duo Joe and Anthony Russo producing. While Ritchie's time in the British crime genre has generally scored positive reviews, his big-budget fantasy work has scored more mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, namely the live-action Aladdin movie, though its mixed reception didn't keep it from scoring big at the box office with over $1 billion grossed. While audiences await proper casting details on the live-action Hercules movie, they can revisit the original film streaming on Disney+ now.
