Shazam! director David F. Sandberg "completes" Superman's cameo in the film thanks to a new video. Shazam! stars Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, while Asher Angel plays Billy Batson, the teenager who transforms into Shazam. One of the movie's funniest moments comes at the very end, when Shazam surprises his best friend Freddy and classmates with a lunchroom appearance by Superman. However, the character is only seen from the neck down, as an actual cameo from Cavill never came to fruition. Instead, Levi's stunt double wears the suit.

This week, fans began to look at the Superman cameo in a new light. This is because Cavill, whose role in the future of the DC Extended Universe was a question mark, is now in talks to return. It isn't clear yet exactly what this will entail, but Man of Steel 2 is reportedly not in development. Recent news suggests Cavill also won't appear in Black AdamThe Batman, or The Flash, though Aquaman 2 and Shazam! 2 are both on the table for cameo appearances. The reveal about Cavill's possible Superman return has some fans (and even Shazam! actor John Glover) asking Sandberg to add Cavill into the existing Shazam! Superman scene.

Today, Sandberg hilariously complied, tweeting an altered video with Cavill's floating head appearing above Superman's body. Though it may not be exactly what fans had in mind, the potential for Shazam! 2 cameo from Cavill means fans may see an even better Superman scene eventually. In the meantime, they can check out Sandberg's video below:

Cavill's role in the DCEU was up in the air at the time Shazam! was filmed, likely contributing to his non-appearance. Still, the scene as is in the film is a funny moment. Shazam! 2 hasn't begun filming yet and won't release until 2022, meaning there's still plenty of time to work a cameo by Cavill into the script. If it does come to fruition, Shazam will have a one-up on his nemesis Black Adam, since Cavill isn't appearing in that film.

Sandberg's video may be a joke, however, it's inline with Shazam!'s general tone. Many see it as the lightest entry in the DCEU so far, and the original Superman cameo scene is a big part of that. It also created a lot of mystery leading up to the movie's release, as many speculated Superman would appear. It's hard to know for sure if Cavill will ever make a true cameo in a Shazam! film, but at least fans can enjoy this humorous take on it by Sandberg.
