Henry Cavill and Guy Ritchie’s reunion film is based on the 2015 novel by war correspondent Damien Lewis titled Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops. The movie will tackle the adventures of UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond creator Ian Fleming as they form a covert World War II combat organization. The secret group, consisting of methamphetamine-dependent violent renegade soldiers, implementing unconventional techniques to fight Nazi Germany throughout the war.
Given the interesting real-life inspiration behind The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the film is envisioned as the beginning of a new series. Ritchie, along with the producer of the massive box-office success Top Gun: Maverick, Jerry Bruckheimer, is already planning to shoot the movie with the intention of creating a franchise. After all, it might present a set of fascinating characters, seemingly echoing those of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds.
