The latest word from behind the scenes of the forthcoming Hellboy reboot includes explicit information on which characters will comprise the B.P.R.D. in addition to plot details. Set to be directed by Game of Thrones veteran Neill Marshall, the new movie will star David Harbour (Stranger Things) as the titular antihero in an R-rated production with mature themes.

Following the work of actor Ron Perlman and director Guillermo del Toro in bringing the original comic book character to the big screen in the two prior Hellboy films from 2004 and 2008, series creator Mike Mignola is intent on establishing a new take on the franchise - with the potential of starting an all-new shared cinematic universe. And with the likes of Mila Jovovich (Resident Evil) as the villanious Blood Queen and Ian McShane (American Gods) as Professor Bloom both coming along for the ride, it would appear that the plot of the forthcoming reboot is finally taking shape.

According to Splash Report, further details about the plot and characters of the Hellboy reboot have just been released. After dropping the Rise of the Blood Queen subtitle, things are still chugging along full steam ahead, as evidenced by the following batch of information:

You will see the B.P.R.D. headquarters, which is on a snow-capped mountainside, you will see arcane artifacts: cryptid skeletons, freakish things encased in formaldehyde, period weapons. Fans will also get to see the symbol of a hand holding a sword, with the words: IN ABSENTIA LUCI, TENEBRAE VINCIUNT.

The Hellboy reboot will indeed be Rated R and will be a darker horror story than the lighter tone from the previous del Toro films, as you get to see a lot of cool actions scenes that include severed heads. There are some creatures of darkness, one creature has giant tentacles which wraps themselves around the London Bridge, hence why the film will be filmed in London.

Film leaves it wide up for a sequel as you get to see who Hellboy is going after next.

That's certainly plenty to go on in regards to the visual feel and thematic tone that Marshall's film will undoubtedly take. In addition, it has been revealed that several characters will play a central role in the Hellboy reboot's plot. The members of the B.P.R.D. include Abe Sapien, Alice Monaghan, and Major Ben Daimio. Alice can hear dead people and will use the Spirit Wrack, while Daimio is described as a "rugged military type" and has a "cool transformation." Other characters include Baba Yaga the Witch, King Arthur, Merlin, and Grugach. Grugach is "a fairy creature that looks like a pig." He's said to be an adversary of Hellboy's who wants revenge on the Big Red Guy.

Longtime fans of Mingola's original comic book series will undoubtedly be able to begin to guess at what direction the Hellboy reboot might take based on all of this information alone. On that note, here's to hoping for the very best as things continue to develop behind the scenes.
