The adventures of beloved comic book hero Hellboy and his team of fantasy fighters are getting a new collection, with cover art by legendary artist Adam Hughes. And fans can pick up the trade paperback for themselves when Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Beast of Vargu and Others arrives in July of 2020.
The collected edition will be bringing together several standalone stories for the first time, collecting the tales told in Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Beast of Vargu, Hellboy: Krampusnacht, Hellboy: The Return of the Lambton Worm, and Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Saturn Returns Issues #1-#3. The collection will be coming to book stores and comic shops everywhere on July 7th, 2020. Mike Mignola and Scott Allie are joined by veteran Hellboy artists Ben Stenbeck, Adam Hughes, Christopher Mitten, and Duncan Fegredo to present stories collected for the first time in paperback, complete with bonus sketchbook section.
The collection will include the titular Beast of Vargu, originally a one-shot from Mignola and Fegredo sending Hellboy to a small village in Romania a centuries-old curse and a man-eating monster, culminating in "a sinister puppet show and a demigod’s ill-fated dinner." Krampusnacht is a 2017 one-shot by Mike Mignola and Adam Hughes (in his Hellboy debut) which won the Eisner Award for Best Single Issue/One-Shot in 2018. The Return of the Lambton Worm story was originally published as a six-page short story in Playboy Magazine. Saturn Returns is a three-issue arc written by Mike Mignola and Scott Allie, focused on a mystery involving a cache of bodies found in New Hampshire woods.
Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: The Beast of Vargu and Others will arrive in July 2020 from Random House.
