Jack Black and Ice Cube will star in a new comedy film from Columbia Pictures called Oh Hell No. Black can most recently be seen in the Jumanji reboot sequel Jumanji: The Next Level and has many more future films in the pipeline, including Richard Linklater’s Apollo 10½. Cube is known for many fan-favorite comedies and will star alongside Eva Longoria in Patrick Aiello and Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming sci-fi flick War of the Worlds.

Oh Hell No will star Jack Black and Ice Cube, according to a new announcement from Sony. Oh Hell No will follow the mayhem that erupts when Sherman (Black) falls in love with Will’s (Cube) mother. The film will be directed by Kitao Sakurai and produced by Matt Tolmach with Black and Roz Music. The script was penned by Scot Armstrong, Tracy Oliver, Jessica Gao, and Rodney Rothman.

Sakurai is a comedy director known for his work on the Adult Swim sketch comedy series The Eric André Show and the recent Netflix comedy Bad Trip starring Eric André and Lil Rel Howery. Armstrong has writing credits on popular comedy films, including Road Trip and The Hangover: Part II. Tracy Oliver is known for writing some of the most popular Black comedies, including Girls Trip. Rothman has credits on hits such as 22 Jump Street and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Gao is known for writing on a slew of comedy series and is the writer behind the most famous Rick & Morty episode, “Pickle Rick,” which won the series its first Emmy Award.

Oh Hell No is set to premiere on July 1, 2022.
