Screen Rant can exclusively reveal a new card for the upcoming Hearthstone expansion March of the Lich King, an impressive Blood Rune Legendary card entitled Deathbringer Saurfang. The new expansion is set to release on December 6, and will introduce the powerful Death Knight class. Alongside Death Knights, the expansion will also bring a host of other features, like the Undead minion type, Corpse generation, the manathirst mechanic, and dozens of cards.Death Knight is the first class to be added to Hearthstone since the game added Demon Hunter in 2020. New classes are a rarity for the game and a big event to look forward to, as the changes they bring go well beyond the class itself. Death Knight will forever alter how all other classes in the game operate, with inevitable changes to the game's meta coming alongside it that will affect all players and the way they compete.Related: Edward Goodwin & Matt London Interview: Hearthstone's New Death Knight ClassDrawing from World of Warcraft lore, Hearthstone's Death Knights will fall into one of three main categories via the game's new Rune system: Blood, Frost, or Unholy. Players will be able to choose three different Runes for their deck which will determine the cards they are able to use, and are encouraged to mix and match them to create unique synergies. The mechanics of the Hearthstone Death Knight Runes each have a different focus: Blood is about health manipulation and powerful minions, Frost centers on direct spell damage, and Unholy is all about Corpse generation and raising minions from the dead.Deathbringer Saurfang Hearthstone card on a red background. Hearthstone's Deathbringer Saurfang is an Undead 3/5 minion card with Taunt and a Deathrattle that reads: "Return this to your hand. It costs Health instead of Mana." The card costs 5 mana and also requires a deck with at least two Blood Runes, which aligns with the card's health-focus. The card comes from the story of Dranosh Saurfang, a Horde warrior who was killed by the Lich King and subsequently raised as the powerful undead Deathbringer Saurfang to guard the Icecrown Citadel.

As a whole, the new Hearthstone expansion centers around deep-cut WoW lore. March of the Lich King is inspired by a specific time period in Warcraft's story, after the Lich King has awoken from a long slumber and set their sights on conquering the cities of Azeroth. All the cards in the expansion are inspired by this time period and conflict in different ways, representing both the Scourge and Blood Elf sides of the war.

This newly revealed Hearthstone Deathbringer Saurfang card is a perfect example of how the Runes of the Death Knight class will add a great variety to gameplay. Since the card only requires two Blood Runes, a third Unholy Rune could be brought into the deck alongside Death Knight's Hero Power to improve Corpse generation and in turn make Blood Rune cards more powerful, or a Frost Rune could be used for added spellcasting abilities. There are still many cards yet to be revealed - with the expansion bringing 68 Death Knight cards in total - but Deathbringer Saurfang gives a great glimpse at what's to come for Hearthstone.
