Winter has arrived in Westeros with a new batch of posters for the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Though the wait has been longer than usual, we're now just weeks away from the return of Game of Thrones on HBO. Sadly, the prolonged gap will be made worse as the season is only seven episodes long. Luckily, the last two will be the lengthiest in the show's history. That's all well and good, considering the new season promises to be the most fantastical and epic yet.

From promo photos to cryptic teases by actors, we've been slowly getting a taste of what to expect when Game of Thrones returns. Last month's trailer finally shows some of the action and teased the new character pairings, and the reveal today of a second trailer focused things further. Though we've known Dany's invasion of Westeros and the coming of the Others was imminent, seeing both dragons and White Walkers descend on the land while the various characters fight back has been something special. Now, a new set of character posters finally brings the fantasy elements of the show front and center.

HBO has unveiled a dozen new posters for season 7 of Game of Thrones, showing most of the main characters with the phrases "Winter is here." Each character is also lit in blue, given them an appearance much like the Others. And to drive home the point that the coming winter is more than just a meteorological issue, the left eye of each character features the Night's King. Check out the one featuring Bran above, and the others in the gallery below:

Though nothing new is revealed about the plot, it will be thrilling for fans to continuing seeing the Others used so heavily in the marketing. Though they've existed on the fringes of the story in both the books and on the show, their overall threat has only been teased so far. And while dragons and magic certainly exist in the world, political intrigue has been the primary focus of the story to date. With the White Walkers on their way, however, all other conflicts and issues will need to be set aside to face them. And while we likely won't see dragons versus White Walkers next season, it's on the way.

The posters also put into perspective just how sweeping the scope will be. Aside from the 12 people in the posters, there's also Euron Greyjoy, Yara, Beric, the Hound, and dozens of other characters that will be factoring into the story as we move forward. With so few episodes to go and so much action teased, it's hard to imagine how everyone will get their due. Hopefully, the ride will be exciting regardless.
