HBO Max is welcoming 2021 by releasing a handful of movies and TV shows across the month of January. Aside from adding a slew of notable titles to the ever-growing catalog, the streamer is gearing up for several premium movies, Max Originals, and another Warner Bros. studio debut. With subscriptions skyrocketing due to the WB's streaming partnership with HBO Max, new and existing subscribers will have a slew of programming to keep them busy throughout the first month of the new year.

The WarnerMedia streaming platform closed out on a high note with its December releases on HBO Max. In addition to big movie premieres like The Photograph, Let Them All Talk, and Wendy, the platform debuted a Euphoria December special episode, the first entry of planned specials for the Zendaya-led HBO series. Most noteworthy, however, was the exclusive streaming premiere of the DCEU sequel, Wonder Woman 1984. The title is the first of many WB films set to release on the streamer while simultaneously running in theaters. Based on the current deal, the superhero film will be available to subscribers through the end of January.

While Wonder Woman 1984 will continue to attract attention in January, there are plenty of other notable titles across movies and TV series. Among the HBO movie premieres on Saturday nights coming to the streaming service is the comedy-drama The High Note (January 2), Pete Davidson's The King of Staten Island (January 9), and Blumhouse's Don't Let Go (January 23). As for Max Originals, season 4 of Search Party is set to begin on January 14, and a new heist film, titled Locked Down, will debut at some point during the month. The movie, starring Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor, doesn't have an exact release date at the time of writing. Euphoria's second special, Part 2: Jules, will debut on January 24 through HBO and HBO Max. Last but not least, WB's The Little Things, which serves as a neo-noir crime thriller with Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto is set to start streaming on January 29.

As always, January will feature the departure of a handful of notable titles on HBO Max. Of course, Wonder Woman 1984 will be leaving in the final week of January, but it will likely return to the streamer at some point in the future. Ad Astra and Days After Your Departure are other relatively recent releases heading out. Multiple installments of franchises like Blade, Jeepers Creepers, and Leprechaun will also be disappearing. In all, the list of departures is a bit short when compared to other months. That said, the forthcoming HBO Max releases will surely make up for any exits.
