The lineup of new movies and TV shows on Max in April 2024 is just as packed with known Warner Bros. and HBO classics as ever, alongside a steady stream of slick recent releases. After launching in 2020 as HBO Max, the primary streaming home for Warner Bros. titles, Max changed its name and rebranded in 2023. While the name change also comes with some changes to subscription tiers, Max will still release new hit titles every month, which in April includes yet more big-screen blockbusters and top-tier TV shows.

In March, Max unveiled a stellar lineup of films that captivated audiences. Among these were the wisecracking, action-packed Deadpool, which brought its unique brand of humor and superhero antics to viewers. Fans of heist films were treated to the stylish and star-studded Ocean's Eleven, while the gripping survival story of 127 Hours offered a stark, visceral cinematic experience. This array of titles from the previous month not only entertained a wide range of tastes but also underscored Max's commitment to delivering diverse and high-quality content, making it a prime destination for movie lovers. Now, April is even more stacked.

A darkly comedic and mature take on the Scooby-Doo franchise, Velma sees the titular character, played by Mindy Kaling, taking the spotlight in a retelling of her origins, leading to her joining Mystery Inc. A significant departure from the family-friendly rendition released decades ago, Velma will modernize the characters and has cast Sam Richardson as Shaggy, Constance Wu as Daphne, and Glenn Howerton as Fred. Scooby-Doo will not be featured in the show, as it features the earlier days of the crew as they solve murderous mysteries and find themselves getting in over their heads more often than not.
