HBO Max continues to make a name for itself among the current streaming wars, and the service will continue grabbing attention with the movies and TV shows coming in April 2021. To build on the momentum from March, the WarnerMedia service is wasting no time by adding a handful of notable titles. Aside from another major Warner Bros. movie release, HBO Max will bring in a much-discussed Marvel title. There are also a few Max Originals in the mix, in addition to several noteworthy HBO programming highlights. As always, the streamer will be welcoming a slew of titles to expand the back catalog.

Interest is still running high due to HBO Max's March releases, which were highlighted by the exclusive premiere of Zack Snyder's Justice League. The high demand for the highly-anticipated director's cut of the 2017 DCEU title undoubtedly brought in new subscribers. Existing subscribers and newcomers were then given access to Godzilla vs. Kong, the big-budget Monsterverse installment originally planned for an ordinary theatrical release. With WB's partnership with HBO Max, the title simultaneously debuted on the streamer the same day as theaters.

In terms of notable titles hitting in April, the HBO Max Original, Made for Love, will kick things off on the first day of the month (April 1). The dark comedy stars Cristin Milioti and Ray Romano as the co-leads. Next up, Marvel's The New Mutants will be added to the film library on April 10. The next day (April 11), The Nevers premieres on HBO and will be instantly available on the streaming service. Joss Whedon created the Victorian-era sci-fi, but he was forced to step down. Aside from Godzilla vs. Kong, WB and HBO Max will be celebrating the arrival of Mortal Kombat, Simon McQuoid's reboot of the franchise, releasing April 16. Last but not least, Kate Winslet stars in HBO's Mare of Easttown, a new drama beginning on April 18.
