Marvel's Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner teases the start of his preparation to return as Clint Barton for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ TV show. Renner debuted as Hawkeye in Marvel Studios' Thor before officially joining Earth's Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers. Since then, Marvel fans have learned more about Renner's version of the superhero, including the wife and family he kept secret from most of his Avengers teammates. After sitting out Avengers: Infinity War, Hawkeye served as the emotional core of Avengers: Endgame - but unlike fellow heroes Captain America, Iron Man and Black Widow, Clint didn't die or retire.

Instead, Hawkeye's story continues in the same-named TV show confirmed by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Renner will lead the cast of Hawkeye, and he appeared during Marvel Studios' SDCC panel to help announce the series, which is set to air on Disney+ in Fall 2021. Feige and Renner further confirmed the Hawkeye show will introduce Kate Bishop to the MCU, finally bringing the fan-favorite character into the live-action movie franchise. Now, despite some earlier rumors that Hawkeye may be delayed, Renner is teasing the start of the show.

On his Instagram story, Renner posted the Hawkeye TV show logo along with the caption, "Time to start stretching." Given actors in superhero projects typically have to do months of training in order to get in fighting shape, it's likely Renner is referring to whatever workout regiment he'll be doing to prepare for Hawkeye, rather than the actual start of filming. Take a look at Renner's post below.

Jeremy Renner Teases Hawkeye Show Start

With Hawkeye set to premiere in late 2021, the show will likely start production sometime this year. That means we'll begin to receive more casting news as the Marvel production fills out its cast. It's not yet clear who will play Kate Bishop. Last year, it was reported that Bumblebee actress Hailee Steinfeld was offered the Kate Bishop role, but there were potential scheduling conflicts with her Apple TV+ series, Dickinson. It's unclear if Marvel has made any headway with Apple or if the studio is looking for other actresses to fill the role of Clint Barton's fellow archer. Aside from Kate Bishop, Hawkeye will also need to cast other key roles, though it's not yet known whether the show will introduce any other Marvel Comics characters.

As for what the plot of Hawkeye will entail, not much is known beyond the story exploring Clint and Kate's mentor-mentee relationship. Presumably, the Disney+ series will also set up Kate Bishop as the new Hawkeye, since Phase 4 is featuring a changing of the guard for a few superheroes, most notably being Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking on the Captain America mantle. Considering Renner has been part of the MCU since Phase 1, fans may be sad to see him hang up his bow, but it's not yet confirmed that the actor will wrap up his Marvel tenure in the TV show. Hopefully we'll learn more about Renner's future as Clint Barton and the Hawkeye series as pre-production commences and leads into the start of filming.
