Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for the Hawkeye finale.

The original mid-credits scene from Hawkeye would have been quite different, as revealed by a VFX artist who worked on the series. Hawkeye is the final live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe series of 2021, putting a cap on a banner year for the streaming service. Before the series, which follows arrow-slinging Avenger Clint Barton on a new adventure, premiered the day before Thanksgiving, fans were treated to WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. Between them, Falcon and WandaVision scooped up 19 Emmy nominations, with WandaVision winning three.

The Disney+ series have only sporadically used credits scenes during the main body of episodes. For instance, WandaVision featured such scenes for the final three episodes of the series, including moments that were important for the development of the show's overall plot. However, even the shows who haven't used many credit scenes will include one for the finale, though Hawkeye's was a very light and silly one, giving fans a full glimpse of the production number "Save the City" from Rogers: The Musical that was partly shown in the series premiere.

Elaina Scott, a VFX artist who worked on Hawkeye, posted about the series' original mid-credits scene on Twitter. The scene would have been a gag following up on a brief moment in the climactic ice rink fight, where two of the Tracksuit Mafia members are shrunk by a Pym arrow and carried off in their miniaturized truck by an adorable owl. Evidently, the cut scene would have shown the owl carrying the truck and its screaming occupants back to its nest. Check out the post below:

This cut scene reveals one other interesting thing about Marvel's intentions for Hawkeye. Neither the original scene nor the one they ended up using set up anything about the future of the MCU, either on film or on Disney+. This is rather unusual, especially because Alaqua Cox's Maya, AKA Echo, will be getting her own spinoff series in a matter of time.

It is extremely likely that the MCU will see more of Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova and Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop as well, but the show presents no evidence of this. Likewise, the future of Hawkeye himself is extremely uncertain. This show, which has largely focused on him passing the torch of heroism to Kate, was expected to kill off Hawkeye in the process. Now that he is still alive, with the affairs of The Ronin wrapped up once and for all, it is unknown if Marvel intends to have him appear again, and the mid-credits scenes have both remained mum on hinting if this will be the case.
