Fan artist Mizuri has recreated the cover to Kate Bishop's solo comic series with Hawkeye's Hailee Steinfeld in his latest piece of fan art. Steinfeld stars as the young hero in the Disney+ series, who trains under original Avenger Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) during the holiday season. The first two episodes of the six-part series were released on November 24.

In Hawkeye, Steinfeld plays Kate Bishop, daughter to a wealthy family who owns a security firm based in New York. Kate and her family are caught in the Chitauri Invasion of New York from The Avengers, where she is saved by Clint Barton. Despite her rescue, her father is killed in the battle, with Kate dedicating herself to being a hero following his death. When the series starts, Kate is suspended from college after destroying a clock tower, only to be targeted by the Tracksuit Mafia when she dons Clint's Ronin suit from Avengers: Endgame to face them in a heist attempt at an auction. With Kate drawn into Clint's world, she must now work with her hero as she learns how to rise to take her place in the MCU. To celebrate her MCU debut, one artist has created a piece of fan art celebrating the character.

Australian fan artist Mizuri has shared on their Instagram account a recreation of issue 1 of Kate Bishop's first solo series, 2016's Hawkeye written by Kelly Thompson, and illustrated by Leonardo Romero. The piece recreates Julian Totino Tedesco's artwork but instead incorporates Steinfeld's MCU portrayal into the piece. Alongside the artwork, Mizuri praised the series first two episodes and Steinfeld's character, revealing they chose to do the piece to help test out a new drawing tablet. Hawkeye wears its comic origins on its sleeve as it pays homage, for better and worse. Comic artist David Aja has called out the production for not properly compensating him for inspiration when the series' teaser poster was released. The calls for appropriate compensation grew louder following the first two episode's release, where fans noted that even the show's opening credits drew heavily from Aja's work, creating more discussion about how the MCU credits the writers and artists who inspire Marvel Studios' releases.

Despite debates around Marvel Studios' treatment of writers and artists, seeing fans combine the comic source material with their MCU counterparts is always a welcome treat. Mizuri's recreation is a perfect showcase of how Steinfeld's portrayal is faithful to the original comic character. Though Hawkeye is focused on Kate's earlier days working alongside Clint, this piece of artwork is a good speculative piece that imagines how Kate could look in her future solo MCU adventures, should the studio adapt them.
