In a recent Instagram post, Hailee Steinfeld shares her appreciation for her canine companion from the Disney+ series Hawkeye. The latest entry in the MCU stars Steinfeld as Kate Bishop along with Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton/Hawkeye. The series follows the pair's unlikely team-up when Bishop comes across the Ronin costume that Barton wore in the five years following Avengers: Infinity War while taking out much of the criminal underworld. Naturally, this creates consequences for Bishop, who is confronted by enemies from Barton's vigilante past, and conspiracies abound as the two try to solve their problem in time for Hawkeye to make his Barton family Christmas.

Along with Steinfeld and Renner, the series also stars Tony Dalton, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Linda Cardellini, and Alaqua Cox. Despite having an esteemed cast, one particular co-star has stolen the hearts of MCU fans: Jolt, the golden retriever playing Lucky the Pizza Dog, a one-eyed stray that Bishop finds who has an affinity for the Italian staple. Fans have fallen in love with Jolt, and he has proven himself a natural as Bishop's canine companion in Hawkeye.

Even the cast have shown their appreciation for Jolt. Taking to Instagram to celebrate the release of Hawkeye episode 3, Steinfeld posts a selfie with her and Jolt smiling, which she labels "some wholesome pizza dog & kate content." The post has already generated over 1 million likes, with reactions showing nothing but love for Marvel's goodest boy. Check out the post below:

The inclusion of Lucky the Pizza Dog in the Hawkeye series should come as no surprise to fans of the archer's comics. Additions like Lucky, the Tracksuit Mafia, and Echo take heavy inspiration from Matt Fraction's run of Hawkeye comics, in which the dog is originally owned by the athleisure-wearing criminal gang. However, he bonds with Hawkeye over a slice and eventually becomes his furry sidekick. Jolt's real-life appreciation of pizza only shows that he is perfect casting for Lucky the Pizza Dog.

With the series adapting Fraction's comics in style and tone, Hawkeye serves as a change of pace from the recent cosmic crises that dominated MCU projects like Loki and Eternals. Characters like Lucky and Alaqua Cox's Echo show that the MCU is equally capable of grappling with street-level characters that face more internal conflicts. It also shows that Marvel is taking their storytelling in a more inclusive direction, with the character of Echo simultaneously advancing the franchise's Native American, Deaf, and amputee representation. Fans can surely expect to see more of Jolt's scene-stealing performance in Hawkeye's remaining three episodes.
