The trailer for Hawkeye episode 4 teases the mysterious arrival of a new masked character. Marvel's latest live-action Disney+ series is officially underway, and even after just three episodes, there's so much for MCU fans to dissect and discuss. Hawkeye serves as the first-ever solo adventure for Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), set in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame. Now reunited with his family, Clint is ready to celebrate the holidays and move on from the devastating events of the past few years.

Of course, Hawkeye isn't making that goal an easy one to achieve. Three episodes in, Clint is still stuck in New York City trying to free aspiring hero Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) from the mess she found herself in during the series premiere. This week's Hawkeye episode showed how great a team the two can be when the pressure's on, but they still have many more obstacles ahead as they get further involved with the conflict with the Tracksuit Mafia and the murder of Armand Duquesne (Simon Callow).

The number of enemies surrounding Kate and Clint just might grow with Hawkeye episode 4. As revealed in a new teaser for the show, the two archers are about to be confronted by a strange masked figure. They're only glimpsed briefly, but it's enough to leave Kate worrying about their identity. That, coupled with the teaser's promise that the biggest surprises are still to come, suggests this reveal is not one to be missed. Check out the trailer below.

Fans who have been keeping up with their Marvel news likely have a good guess about who's under that mask. Black Widow's Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) is confirmed to have a role in Hawkeye, but she has yet to arrive onscreen. As the Black Widow end-credits scene revealed, Yelena has been led to believe Clint is responsible for her sister Natasha's death, so it stands to reason that she will first appear on Hawkeye as an enemy. That alone could be evidence that the mystery figure is her, but then there's also the fact that masked look in the above Hawkeye trailer resembles Yelena's Adaptoid costume from the comics. In other words, it seems all but certain that Yelena's arrival is officially upon us.

Up until this point, the promotional materials for Hawkeye haven't revealed a shred of Yelena's role, likely wanting to keep it a thrilling surprise for audiences. Having her first appear wearing a mask and attacking Clint and Kate would be a great entrance; the real question is whether this will come as Hawkeye episode 4's cliffhanger or will come earlier in the runtime. Fans will get to find out for themselves next week when the episode drops on Disney+.
