Warning! Spoilers ahead for Marvel's Hawkeye episode 3

Marvel's Hawkeye episode 3 secretly revealed the return of the MCU's Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), with him seemingly the "uncle" to newcomer Maya Lopez aka Echo (Alaqua Cox). While the reveal was incredibly brief during a flashback focused on Maya's childhood, it seems as though Wilson Fisk is finally back in the MCU. This is a fairly big deal for fans of Netflix's canceled Daredevil series, seeing as how there had been concerns that the series was no longer canon to the MCU and that the characters would be rebooted.

Marvel's Hawkeye episode 3 begins with a look into Maya Lopez's past as a child. Despite being deaf, she excelled in school as well as in her karate classes aided by her photographic reflexes, allowing Lopez to perfectly "echo" the movements and skills of others. However, it's revealed that she and her father were struggling to get by, leading to Maya's father eventually joining Hawkeye's villain group the Tracksuit Mafia.

During one of her karate classes Maya's father has to leave, telling her that her "uncle" will be taking her home instead. This is followed by a man who is presumedly her "uncle" showing her affection, though his face remains off-screen. However, his build, suit, and chuckle all point to Echo's uncle being Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, marking the return of the MCU's Kingpin who was last seen in Netflix's canceled Daredevil series. Combined with teases of a man at the top of Maya's criminal enterprise, and Kingpin's comics' history as her adopted father, it's all but confirmed that Hawkeye has secretly brought Kingpin back.

Donofrio's Kingpin's potential MCU return in Hawkeye creates some extremely exciting prospects for the future of the character, show, and shared universe. Not only would his role in Maya's life make her journey that much more dynamic as it adapts elements from the comics, but Fisk has seemingly become the first Netflix character to be reintegrated back into the MCU, although it's also possible the same actor is playing a new version of the character. Naturally, this provides hope for other characters from the canceled shows such as Matt Murdock's Daredevil played by Charlie Cox. Likewise, Kingpin returning in Hawkeye provides much more credence to the rumors that Daredevil will be making an appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In any case, if this is correct then Fisk will likely be getting a much bigger spotlight in Hawkeye's three remaining episodes. While he was ostensibly briefly seen in Maya's flashback, Echo has become a leader of the Tracksuits after the death of her father in the present, and it's confirmed that she and her crew work for her "uncle". As a result, it seems as though it will only be a matter of time before the Kingpin shows his face as Clint Barton and Kate Bishop continue to meddle in his affairs.
