Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld got awkward talking about a potential meeting between her Hawkeye protege Kate Bishop and Black Widow’s revenge bent sister, Yelena Belova, in the upcoming MCU Disney+ series. Hawkeye takes place in a post-Blip New York City and will see Jeremy Renner once again portraying Clint Barton, while also teaming up with the self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Archer,” Kate Bishop, to deal with the aftermath from his time as Ronin. The series is also suspected to show Barton handing over the reins to Bishop to introduce a new era to the Hawkeye moniker.

Disney released the first trailer for the upcoming Hawkeye series back in September, giving fans a look at Steinfeld in Barton’s Ronin gear, the villainous group known as the Tracksuit Mafia, exploding arrows, car chases and a Christmas-filled New York City. And although she wasn’t present in the trailer or in any other official Hawkeye marketing material, Florence Pugh is confirmed to be reprising her role as Yelena Belova in the limited series. The Black Widow post-credits scene introduced a possible revenge store arc for Belova, after she’s been led to believe that Barton is responsible for her sister Natasha Romanoff’s death.

In a new video shared by extratv, while Steinfeld was on the red carpet for the Hawkeye premiere in Los Angeles, the actor was asked about Bishop’s first meeting with Belova in the upcoming Marvel series. Steinfield played it coy when the interviewer asked her point blank what the scene was like. The actress got a little awkward, only stating “They met, huh? Wow. I bet that’s a fun and interesting encounter.” Check out the full video below.

The reporter followed up by asking about the possibility of Bishop appearing in any MCU feature films, and Steinfeld continued to play it close the chest. Keeping with a long Marvel tradition, the actress was careful not to reveal any future plans for the character. Steinfeld’s Bishop will finally come to life on November 24 with the first two episodes of Hawkeye being released on Disney+, with four episodes to follow in the first season. Vera Farming, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon and Alaqua Cox are among the supporting cast that will be joining Renner, Steinfeld and Pugh in this Marvel Studios action-packed holiday series.

Without a solo Hawkeye film in the Marvel Universe yet, it is definitely possible that Steinfeld could be sitting in the main role of a solo film before all is said and done. Steinfeld’s Bishop could open up future possibilities for the Hawkeye character that previously couldn't be achieved with Barton’s version, noting a pivotal female role within the MCU. Fans are even speculating that Hawkeye could serve as the introduction of a Young Avengers team or a new West Coast Avengers team to be introduced later in the Marvel franchise. This is due to Bishop’s Hawkeye being the leader of the West Coast Avengers in 2018’s incarnation of a comic series by the same name. With speculation about Bishop's MCU future running wild, more will be revealed when Hawkeye finally hits screens.
