Hawkeye's producer teases the introduction of Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) brings out a new side of Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). Marvel Studios is developing multiple shows for Disney+ that are set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So far, these shows have starred familiar MCU characters like Scarlet Witch, Falcon, and Loki, but each one has also introduced new heroes and villains that will be important to the future. Hawkeye is no exception to this guide, as it finally gives Jeremy Renner a solo MCU project while also introducing his replacement in Hailee Steinfeld.

The veil of secrecy surrounding Hawkeye finally started to lift in recent weeks ahead of the show's November release on Disney+. Marvel's marketing push culminated with the release of the first Hawkeye trailer earlier this week. It offered the best look at the show's tone and Christmas setting, while also highlighting the dynamic between Kate and Clint that is central to its story. Their relationship begins as a result of Kate wearing Clint's Ronin costume, which will bring the two ace archers together for a mission that is as-of-yet not confirmed. It will be through their pairing that Marvel aims to show a new side of Clint Barton in Hawkeye.

As part of EW's 2021 fall TV preview, the outlet officially released an image of Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner in Hawkeye. The image also brought a new quote from executive producer Trihn Tran, who discussed the different side of Clint Barton that Kate Bishop's inclusion in Hawkeye brings out. She teases that their different personalities are what will bring something new out of Renner's MCU archer. Read Tran's comment and check out the new image below:

There's the family man that we've portrayed,a more serious character who is no-nonsense and gets through what he needs to do to accomplish the mission. But here he's pit against Kate, who is super energetic — and at times annoying. It's putting the two of them together and seeing what comes out of that.

The mix of Kate's bubbly personality and Clint's no-nonsense approach is evident throughout the first Hawkeye trailer, and it sounds like that will be a through line for the duration of the series. It gives the MCU show a similar feeling as traditional buddy cop stories, only in this case, the main characters are world-class archers and vigilantes. Since Hawkeye will revolve around Clint and Kate's dynamic, fans should expect to see a lot of them together. If the early footage is any indication, this will result in some fun banter between them.

Although Kate and Clint are very different characters, Hawkeye can still show how they can rub off on each other. Kate is a bit reckless it seems, judging by her "plans" in the first trailer. Clint should be able to help the young archer learn how to make a proper plan and pass along some of his wisdom from his days as a spy and Avenger. Meanwhile, Kate could be the one who helps break the serious shell that Clint often has. He's made plenty of jokes in the past, but perhaps Kate can help him rediscover some of the fun that comes with archery, which Clint might desperately need after a dark last few years. With Hawkeye launching on Disney+ in just over two months, it won't be long before Clint and Kate's relationship is fully explored.
