Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner has revealed which Marvel Cinematic Universe movie he never plans on watching again. Renner has played the Marvel hero Clint Barton/Hawkeye for over a decade now, showing up in ThorCaptain America: Civil War, and three Avengers movies. Now, the character is finally getting top billing as the Hawkeye Disney+ series releases its first two episodes this week. Renner stars in the series alongside Hailee Steinfeld as the fan-favorite character Kate Bishop, and the series is the fourth live-action series from Marvel Studios to hit the streaming service this year.

Though Hawkeye has been a crucial member of the Avengers throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character was given the most to do in the Infinity Saga finale, Avengers: Endgame. Clint goes on quite an emotional journey throughout the film. It begins with him losing his entire family as a result of Thanos snapping half of all life out of existence, which leads to Clint on a dark path as he takes up the mantle of the brutal vigilante, Ronin. After reteaming with the Avengers, Clint attempts to give his life in exchange for the Soul Stone, but Natasha Romanoff ultimately stops him and sacrifices herself instead. The film ends with Clint grieving the loss of Natasha and Tony Stark, while simultaneously grateful that their sacrifices brought his family back to him.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Renner says that he saw Avengers: Endgame at the premiere, but he doesn't ever plan on watching it again. He goes further to say how amazing the experience of seeing the film was, and that it left him and his fellow Avengers cast mates sobbing. Read Renner's full quote below:

"I saw it at the premiere, but that was just something to celebrate for all of us. We were all laughing and weeping and it was a lot. I'll never watch that again. It was a difficult experience. We were all just a sobbing mess and we're laughing. It's amazing, we were like audience members and that was awesome to experience. I mean, that was a lovely, beautiful experience to share."

Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye MCU Disney+

Renner's hesitancy to revisit Avengers: Endgame isn't all that surprising. From a viewer's standpoint, the film is a grand, viscerally emotional experience. One would imagine that having actually worked on the film and played a key role in the universe building to that climactic experience would only make it all the more potent and riveting. Not to mention, Renner is a working actor whose schedule is pretty packed, he likely doesn't have much time to be rewatching old films of his in the first place.

Though Avengers: Endgame may have been the end of the road for heroes like Black Widow and Iron Man, it seems that Hawkeye's future in the MCU is brighter than ever. With the Hawkeye series debuting this week, Marvel fans are starting to get to know the character better than they ever have. By putting the character in a lead role like this, Marvel could be setting Renner up for a larger role moving forward. He stated in the same interview that he would like to see Hawkeye take on a bigger leadership role in the MCU moving forward. It's obvious that Renner loves playing this character, so the Hawkeye fans out there likely have a lot to look forward to.
