The time has come for Clint Barton to claim the spotlight once more, with a new comic series all to himself in Marvel's Hawkeye: Freefall. The best archer in the Marvel Universe is debuting in Issue #1 on January 1st, 2020, and a brand new trailer sets the stage... and get fans asking how Clint is going to get himself out of this fantastic, beautiful mess.

The new series from writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Otto Schmidt gives Clint a mission that is purely his own, as a new mysterious Ronin begins to spill blood in New York City, leading his friends -- Falcon, Winter Soldier, Spider-Man, and more in supporting roles -- to assume Clint is straying from his path. Add in the resurgence of The Hood aiming to restart his criminal enterprise, and this trailer has plenty to show off to get fans excited for the new book.

Whether fans know Hawkeye best from the MCU films, his deadly role in Civil War II, leading the West Coast Avengers, or teaming up with Bucky in Rosenberg's previous Tales of SuspenseFreefall #1 is a beast all its own, as both Rosenberg and editor Alanna Smith explain in the new trailer. Take a look below!

When speaking with Rosenberg in our own preview of Hawkeye: Freefall #1, the writer couldn't speak enough about his love for both Clint and collaborator Otto Schmidt, whose artwork is in full display in the trailer above. The pair seem like the perfect choice to send Clint Barton into total freefall, for better or worse, and fans won't have to wait much longer to start their own journey alongside them:

My original pitch was actually called HAWKEYE: IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE which, ironically, I thought was very funny. But the powers that be thought it left us open to a lot of cheap shots so HAWKEYE: FREEFALL came around. The Freefall title speaks to an idea that Hawkeye lives his life on a tightrope, it's a careful balancing act. And this is his stepping out of his comfort zone, away from safety. So maybe the title Freefall can be seen as liberating? Or maybe he's just moving at top speed, out of control, and it's going to end badly. I guess you have to read it.

Otto is such a next level brilliant artist. He is the complete package -- a great storyteller with a unique style, he can layout a page well, handle humor with ease, and makes action scenes feel alive. It's a gorgeous book and I find myself more and more writing things that I just want to see Otto draw... just want to live in their world with them. It's been a blast seeing this book get built.
