Hasbro's Marvel Legends Defenders Join Forces in SDCC Exclusive

Hasbro will release a Marvel Legends 5-pack of the Defenders as an SDCC 2018 exclusive. Hasbro has issued an exclusive box set of Marvel Legends figures at San Diego Comic Con every year since 2012. Last year's exclusive was set of Thor figures to coincide with the release of Thor: Ragnarok.

It has been a busy year for Hasbro's Marvel Legends line so far. It's only summer, and the company has already released five waves of figures, with four more still on the way. Their massive slate of figures includes two series each for the Avengers, Deadpool, and Spider-Man, plus waves for Black Panther, X-Men, and Venom. On top of all that, Hasbro is currently producing a series of Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years two-packs, along with a variety of exclusives, 2-packs, and Ultimate Riders figures packaged with motorcycles. One of the 2-packs for 2018 features two characters from Netflix's Marvel shows, Luke Cage and Claire Temple.

Hasbro has unveiled the Defenders Rail Authority 5-Pack, the Marvel Legends SDCC exclusive boxset for 2018. Priced at $124.99, the set includes Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Colleen Wing, as they appear in Netflix's Marvel shows. The set comes with five accessories, including Colleen Wing's katana and an interchangeable head for Daredevil. Like all SDCC exclusive box sets, the figures receive special packaging. The Defenders come in a package designed to resemble the subway train from the Netflix series.

This is the second Marvel Legends Defenders box set. The first was an Amazon exclusive from last December that featured comic book versions of the four main characters: Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist. Some Defenders characters were already represented in a Marvel Legends wave released toward the end of 2017. So, while collectors were already able to get their hands on Netflix's Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones, Iron Fist was missing from the series. The new box set may be fans' only chance to purchase a figure of this particular version of the character.

For collectors, Danny Rand is far from the only highlight. Whereas Iron Fist has received numerous figures in his comic book form, no version of Colleen Wing has ever been represented in the Marvel Legends line. The SDCC 2018 exclusive marks the Daughter of the Dragon's long-awaited Marvel Legends debut.
