Following his debut in Eternals, Harry Styles' Eros/Starfox has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to a Marvel producer. Eternals premiered in 2021 and unexpectedly became Marvel Studios' most divisive movie to date. Directed by Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao, Eternals ended on a surprising cliffhanger that partially resulted in the introduction of Styles' Eros. The popular musician arrived during the film's first credits scene, suggesting he would be playing a big part in the MCU's future. Since then, though, Styles' next Marvel project has remained a mystery, leading to questions of whether he will return.

During an interview on the Deadline Crew Call podcast, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore discusses Styles' casting as Eros and the star's future in the MCU. Moore confirms Styles has a future beyond Eternals' mid-credits scene due to Starfox being a "fascinating" character. Moore explains:

No, we certainly didn’t cast Harry for a tag. I mean, again– And a character [that] maybe I have too much affection for, ’cause he’s had some problematic runs in publishing, but... But there are more stories to be told with that character. He’s fascinating. He has a really interesting connection with Thanos; they’re half-brothers and share the same father. He has an interesting power set. He’s a complicated character, but a really fun character. And I think… having met Harry Styles, he is as charming as you want him to be. And I think there’s no limit to how good that character’s going to be once we get to bring him back.

What Is Known About Eros So Far

Starfox in Marvel comics

Styles' Eros was joined by Patton Oswalt's Pip the Troll for the Eternals mid-credits scene. Following several Eternals being kidnapped by the Celestial Arishem, Eros and Pip joined the remaining team members aboard their ship, the Domo, to offer their help in saving those who were taken. That appeared to set the stage for Eros and Pip joining the Eternals in future installments; at the very least, it established Eros' knowledge of how the Celestials work and hinted at his strength as a character.

Eros' debut scene in the MCU caught audiences by surprise, not only because of Styles joining the franchise, but also because his character is the brother of Thanos, the biggest villain in the MCU so far. Further details of how the MCU intends to adapt this connection remain under wraps. As for what has been revealed post-Eternals, it seems likely that Eros' powers in the MCU will have to be different from the character's comic book power set. In the past, Starfox's powers have led to a few controversial moments in comics history that the MCU will likely want to avoid repeating.

Will Eros Have a Big Role In The MCU?

Harry Styles as Eros in the post-credits scene of Eternals

Eros is likely to have a big role in the MCU's future, as Marvel Studios would not cast one of the world's most popular singers as the brother of the MCU's biggest villain for a quick cameo. Based on the mid-credits scene, it seems likely Styles could return in a yet-to-be-announced Eternals 2, and that he could play a part in any of the MCU's upcoming team-up films. In the comics, Starfox interacts with the Avengers from time to time, and the same could happen in 2026's Avengers: Secret Wars. There's a chance that whenever Styles returns as Eros/Starfox, he will have a bigger role to play than just hanging around in an Eternals movie.
