Harry Potter and the Cursed Child unearthed many revelations but none were as shocking as the introduction of Lord Voldemort's daughter, Delphini. The young Dark witch, nicknamed Delphi, was the product of Voldemort's romantic relationship with Bellatrix Lestrange. Here's how Voldemort's only known spawn fits into Harry Potter canon.

Delphi made her franchise debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the two-part play that debuted on London's West End in 2016, with the script later being published for readers worldwide. The witch pretended to be the niece and caretaker of Amos Diggory, the father of Cedric. Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy then teamed with Delphi to steal a Time-Turner to bring back Cedric. Delphi had ulterior motives and put the young wizards in great danger. It wasn't until Harry, Draco, Ginny, Hermione, and Ron tried to rescue the boys that they realized Delphi was actually Voldemort's secret daughter. When Harry disguised himself as Voldemort, Delphi admitted that Bellatrix was her mother.

Harry Potter canon has been a bit complicated since the end of the original book series and subsequent movie adaptations. Author J.K. Rowling has been persistent in revealing new details that have altered the canon, much to the confusion of fans. The release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child also greatly affected the overall story, but based on the information provided through the play, it's possible to fit Delphi into Harry Potter canon. Both Voldemort and Bellatrix died the night of the Battle of Hogwarts, which meant that Delphi would have been born before 1998. Since she was supposedly born sometime during Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, she would have been around 20 years-old in Cursed Child.

There was some evidence that Bellatrix was pregnant after Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She was freed from Azkaban but she was notably absent in the books when Death Eaters snuck into Hogwarts to help assassinate Dumbledore. Her pregnancy could have been the explanation behind Bellatrix's absence, especially since she served as Voldemort's most loyal Death Eater. A Redditor even theorized Bellatix's pregnancy before Cursed Child was even released. It was suggested that Bellatrix's line, "If I had sons, I would be glad to give them up to the service of the Dark Lord!" was meant to reveal she already had a child on the way. But rather than a boy, she had Delphi.

It was no secret that Bellatrix harbored romantic feelings towards Voldemort. Rowling had admitted that Bellatrix viewed Voldemort as her true love and she was even described in the book speaking to him as if he was a "lover." The existence of Delphi was still a bit of a head-scratcher considering Voldemort showed no mutual romantic interest, nor did he share any kind of inkling of wanting an heir.

Having Voldemort and Bellatrix as parents was one thing, but the fact that Delphi grew up a neglected orphan truly put her down a dark path. After revealing her true colors and coming clean about her motivations, Harry realized that she was driven by the dark forces of her father. She wanted the group to kill her or wipe her memory, claiming that she did it all to one day meet her father. Harry's empathy got the best of him and Delphi was sent to Azkaban, the same prison that once held her mother. The apple didn't fall far from the tree with this Harry Potter character.
