Between Fantastic Beats: The Secrets of Dumbledore and Hogwarts LegacyHarry Potter fans are slowly getting to learn more about the past of Hogwarts. Learning about the previous staff and students helps make sense of how things came to be in the beloved movies fans are familiar with.

It's safe to say that Hogwarts has become a defining image of the franchise with the cast appearing in many marketing promotions. While the school may be the best known, it's not the only well-known school for people with special abilities. Throughout television and film, many training academies have popped up, though some were much more powerful than others.

Shield Academy

S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy may not be home to magicians, wizards, or anything like that, but it is home to some of the best and brightest minds and strongest fighters that S.H.I.E.L.D. had. Characters from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. like Fitz, Simmons, and Phil Coulson, all attended the school learning under the different academies.

Communications, operations, and science and technology were the three different academies. While no one there had superpowers, they all were trained to work for an organization that specialized in working with super people and out-of-this-world anomalies. Being trained for top-secret, special missions is no easy feat, and only those that excel in the school get clearance to work on those missions.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

The Academy of Unseen Arts

Hogwarts is not the only school for witches and wizards out there. The Academy of Unseen Arts, seen in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrinais a place of education for many growing witches and warlocks. Among the powerful staff and students, darkness lurks as those who believe breaking away from The Church of Night was wrong, try to infiltrate the system.

The school used to be a place to train satanic witches but has since changed, and is now dedicated to the triple goddess of Hecate. The overall layout of the school's curriculum seems to match Hogwarts, where students start with basic classes and advance to harder ones in their line of focus as they continue. The students in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fit the witchcore fashion aesthetic seen on TikTok perfectly, giving them a realistic witchy look.

The Witcher

Aretuza

The Witcher season 2 Aretuza

Netflix's The Witcher is one of the best fantasy shows on the streaming platform currently. One location in the show that pops up regularly is Aretuza, an all-girls school. These types of schools are popular in magical worlds. Even in Harry Potter, there is the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic which is only for girls.

The school trains some of the best witches in all the land, including some of the girls from the finest families in Redania. While the school has all the traits of a big, exclusive magic school like a spooky tower no one can go near, and limited visitors, there is something else odd about the school. The staff, and even some of the lessons, are excessively mean, and not everyone has to pay to attend the school if they have the gift of magic. These inconsistencies bring up many questions for fans about this school in The Witcher

Winx Club

Alfea School for Fairies

Alfea from Winx

In the heart of Magic Dimension, there are many magical creatures. From witches and wizards to fairies, Winx Club had just about every magical creature anyone could think of. For each creature, there was one of three schools they could go to. There is the Alfea School for Faries, the Cloud Tower School for Witches, and the Red Fountain School for Specialists.

Alfea is the most featured in the series as it is where the main characters go. There are classes like history and self-defense, but the primary purpose is for each fairy to discover and master her source of power and be able to earn Enchantrix by the time she graduates. Enchantrix is the final form each fairy takes on, which takes a lot of power and skill to reach.

The Umbrella Academy

Some schools and institutions are physical places, while others are more of a group of people. The Umbrella Academy is a bit of both. Sir Reginald Hargreeves founded the Umbrella Academy as a place where he would be able to raise and train the seven kids he adopted.

At first glance, the building looks like a normal building in the city, but behind the doors, a lot of magical things happen. Each child, except one, has an umbrella tattoo on their wrist, and each has three names - their birth names, a nickname, and their umbrella number. Behind the doors, Hargreeves helped trained the children, which eventually became known as the Umbrella Academy, to harness their supernatural abilities to fight the evils in the world.

Sky High

Sky High

Just like some of the characters in Harry Potter, students that go to Sky High are usually prepared for it. Their parents went and that's how they know about the school that's floating in the sky. The school is for kids with powers no matter how big or small.

It doesn't have different houses like Hogwarts, but the students in Sky High do get divided into "hero" and "sidekick" sections which determine many of the classes they take, as well as their social status at the school. While most of the students seem to get their powers when born, others grow into their powers or obtain them later in life. There are many great characters in Sky Highthat once fully trained could give some other popular superheroes a run for their money.

Doctor Strange

Kamar-Taj

As most magical schools are, Kamar-Taj is not an easy place to find. Many believe it to only be a legend, but a few, Doctor Strange included, have managed to search hard enough to find it. Kamar-Taj is where sorcerers and sorceresses learn to control their powers, and once their training is done they are offered the chance to join the Masters of the Mystic Arts or return to their previous life.

In Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, fans learn that anyone really can join the school and learn how to become a sorcerer. The students at the school join for a variety of reasons, from healing a bad injury to learning to harness mystic powers. The school is not exclusive necessarily, it's just incredibly hard to find, but for those lucky enough to find it, they have a chance to become like Doctor Strange who is the most powerful wizard, according to Ranker.

The Owl House

Hexside School of Magic and Demonics

Hexside School of Magic and Demonics from Owl House

The Boiling Isles is home to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics were all sorts of folks attend to learn magic. Four houses may seem like a lot at Hogwarts, but that's nothing compared to the nine covens the students at Hexside have to choose from - illusions, abominations, plants, oracles, constructions, healing, potions, beast-keeping, and bard.

Before Luz the human attend Hexisde, most students only chose one coven, but she changed the way things were run at the school and now students have the option to choose multiple covens. Some of the most powerful beings in all of the Boiling Isles, like Eda and Lilith Clawthorne, Raine Whispers, and Principal Bump attend the school. Its structure is very similar and seems to take inspiration from Harry Potter as there are many similar elements like the covens and Grudgby.
