J.K. Rowling has done a tremendous job of creating romances between her characters that are scattered throughout her books. The love stories throughout the Harry Potter series mark one of the many reasons that we are so loyal to this magical franchise and will continue to adore it until the end of time. We all know the obvious shippings in the series such as "Romione" (Ron and Hermione) and "Hinny" (Harry and Ginny), but what are some of the other couples that are in and out of the canon that caught our eye? Which of these ships could we get behind, and which will never make any sense to us? Keep reading to see if you agree.

CAN GET BEHIND: HARRY AND LUNA

Harry and Luna would make a fascinating couple in the world of Harry Potter for many reasons. In fact, a lot of fans preferred Harry and Luna's relationship to Harry and Ginny's, which was especially the case in the movies as opposed to the books. In the books, the relationship between Harry and Ginny felt a bit more natural, and Ginny was given a lot more to work with. However, the movies didn't really give Ron's little sister enough screentime for us to fully appreciate Harry and Ginny as a couple. There was little to no chemistry between the actors who played them, which didn't do much to help their cause. Harry and Luna, on the other hand, had amazing chemistry and their bond was incredibly warm and genuine.

MAKES NO SENSE: HARRY AND HERMIONE

This is a popular ship in the fandom, and although a handful of people wanted these two to end up together, there were more people who were against the idea of Harry and Hermione sharing a romantic connection. There is so much love between these two characters, there is no doubt about it, but the love between them feels more like a sibling connection rather than that of lovers.

It's honestly refreshing that Harry and Hermione never caught feelings for each other in the books or films, because it proves that men and women can be platonic friends without there being any romantic feelings involved.

CAN GET BEHIND: DRACO AND HERMIONE

Although we pretty much knew this relationship would never be canon, the dynamic between Draco and Hermione was so fascinating and unusual that we couldn't help but get behind it. The nature of this ship is that of a love/hate relationship where society will not let them be together due to their blood status and family backgrounds, yet they can't help but be drawn to one another. Forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest, and this is definitely the theme behind Draco and Hermione's fiery fantasy relationship.

MAKES NO SENSE: FRED AND HERMIONE

Although the idea of this couple is pretty cute, if it were to actually happen it would most likely end in disaster. Assuming Fred never passed away at the end of the series, (and we are still trying to recover from that), if he and Hermione ended up trying to make it work, it would be an extremely chaotic relationship. We get that "opposites attract" and all that, but these two are just way too different for it to make sense. Do you really think Hermione would be able to put up with someone who was constantly pulling elaborate pranks?

CAN GET BEHIND: SNAPE AND LILY

There is something rather tragic about Snape and Lily's relationship, and even though they would never work out in canon, we can still dream. Severus Snape is not the type of person who wears his heart on his sleeve unless he truly connects with someone in a way that he never has before.

He never felt so close to anyone as he did with Lily, who became his best friend at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Snape refused to stop loving her after all that time apart, and his dedication to Lily as his one and only love was beyond admirable.

MAKES NO SENSE: SNAPE AND HERMIONE

We have one word for this pairing, and that word is "gross." This is not a Vladimir Nabokov novel; these are Harry Potter books and this relationship just doesn't fly with us in any way shape or form. Even if we were to assume that this ship considered a relationship between Snape and Hermione in which she was of age, it still just wouldn't seem right to us. We're just gonna have to give a hard pass on this ship.

CAN GET BEHIND: JAMES AND LILY

Although at one point we wanted to scold this couple because we discovered how childish James Potter could be, at the end of the day, these two make a really adorable match. It is unfortunate that we didn't get to see enough of this pair in the series because their relationship is so genuine and exciting to us. We love the idea of the popular, outgoing boy going for the shy, sweet girl. Something about their connection is really endearing because they are able to help each other grow into better people.

MAKES NO SENSE: DRACO AND LUNA

There are a surprising number of Potter fans who support this pairing, but we are still scratching our heads as to why. Is it because they both have the same hair color? Unfortunately, folks, sharing the same colored hair does not make for a decent match.

These two seem way too different in every way for us to ever consider them as a romantic pair. We can't even imagine Draco and Luna sharing a conversation together, because what could they possibly talk about? It's doubtful that Draco would ever entertain Luna's long-winded conversations about Nargles, and we know Luna would never put up with his superiority complex. Pass!

CAN GET BEHIND: LUPIN AND TONKS

Lupin with Tonks after the Battle of the Seven Potters

Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks are the ultimate relationship goals in the Harry Potter series. What makes them so great is how authentic and passionate their love is, and how they are willing to risk everything in order to be together.

Lupin at first was reluctant to be with Tonks because he didn't think he was worthy of her love due to his werewolf status. Tonks convinced him that none of that mattered, and their romance was so beautiful as well as inspiring because they both accepted each other fully.

MAKES NO SENSE: HARRY AND VOLDEMORT

This is quite possibly the weirdest and most nonsensical ship out of any fandom ever. Just...what? How could there ever be a world where a relationship between these two would ever make sense? They are mortal enemies. Not even the most skilled couples counselor in the world could ever attempt to make Harry and Voldemort's relationship work. This is just the most confusing ship we've ever heard of, yet somehow there are people who support it.
