Except for Harry Potter, Ron Weasley has the most screentime out of any character in the eight-core movies. Rupert Grint was cast as the Boy Who Lived's best friend and, over the years, made the young wizard iconic. While he wasn't the Chosen One like Harry, or ridiculously intelligent like Hermione Granger, his loyal, funny and kind personality made him hugely popular among fans.

However, Ron was central to things in some blockbusters - and more on the fringes of the action in others. While he wasn't the Chosen One like Harry, or ridiculously intelligent like Hermione Granger, his loyal, funny and kind personality made him hugely popular among fans.

The Goblet Of Fire: 20:30

Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts is a turbulent one. After a brush with Death Eaters at the Quidditch World Cup, Harry returns to school and soon finds himself being thrown into the Triwizard Tournament (despite being too young to compete). After his name is plucked from the magical object by Albus Dumbledore, Harry and Ron have a big falling out.

After Ron wrongly accuses his friend of entering the tournament by choice, the audience sees him disappear for a bit. However, they are eventually able to put their differences aside and Grint's character then assists Harry as he navigates his way through the year. Many fans will agree that his most memorable aspects in this movie are when he attends the Yule Ball and provides moral support to his friends at the end of the film when everyone is heartbroken at the death of Cedric Diggory.

The Order Of The Phoenix: 21

The Order of the Phoenix movie takes a little while for Ron to make an appearance. After Harry has fought off the Dementors and helped Dudley, he is whisked away from Number 4 Privet Drive by the likes of Remus Lupin, Alastor Moody, and Nymphadora Tonks. Ron then backs Harry when he travels to 12 Grimmauld Place and, like other family members, is delighted when his friend is cleared to return to Hogwarts following a trial at the Ministry of Magic.

Ron also joins Dumbledore's Army within the movie and features in the battle against Voldemort's Death Eaters at the Department of Mysteries. His friendship with Harry ultimately prevents the Chosen One from being possessed, with the Gryffindor student clinging on to the good memories to keep the darkness at bay.

The Prisoner Of Azkaban: 21:15

Ron wakes up from his sleep Prisoner of Azkaban

Ron gets 15 more seconds worth of screentime in The Prisoner of Azkaban than he does in The Order of the Phoenix. He reunites with Harry at the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley after his friend overhears him rowing with Hermione over her new pet cat, Crookshanks, and its desire to eat his pet rat, Scabbers.

For Ron, the year proves to be very dramatic. Not only does he learn that his pet rat is a full-grown man but he is also the notorious Peter Pettigrew. The person who sold Lily and James Potter out to Voldermort. What the movie doesn't show is that Ron actually gets a replacement, thanks to Sirius, in the form of an owl named Pigwidgeon. It's just a shame that fans never got to see this because the excitable little owl would likely have pleased fans of the source material.

The Half-Blood Prince: 21:45

With Voldemort now operating out in the open, the Half-Blood Prince movie is definitely darker than any blockbuster that has come before it. It's a coming-of-age movie for the main characters and Ron experiences another difficult year at Hogwarts - for a variety of reasons.

Firstly, he gives romance a shot for the first time - dating Lavender Brown for the majority of the film. However, it becomes evident that he and Hermione feel strongly about each other, with the foundations of their future romance laid down in this installment. Ron also comes precariously close to dying, drinking poison that was originally intended for Dumbledore. He, like many others, mourn the passing of the Hogwarts headmaster and both he and Hermione vow to help Harry as he plots a way to defeat Voldemort once and for all.

The Deathly Hallows Part 2: 25

Speaking of Ron and Hermione's romantic relationship, the pair have a couple of awesome scenes together in The Deathly Hallows: Part 2. They share a kiss in the Chamber of Secrets, successfully destroying one of Voldemort's Horcruxes.

Ron also takes part in the Battle of Hogwarts, playing a vital role as Voldemort's reign of terror is finally brought to an end. Fans even get a glimpse of the character 19 years in the future, after his marriage to Hermione and the births of his children. It would be fascinating to see more of Ron after Hogwarts should Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ever be made into a movie. One day, that might just happen.

The Sorcerer's Stone: 28:15

The Sorcerer's Stone was the movie that propelled Grint, and his character, to superstardom. He immediately became a household name and it's easy to see why. Not only was Ron one of the funniest aspects of this title but he also assists Harry by plotting to stop Lord Voldemort from obtaining Nicolas Flamel's prized stone.

Ron helps Harry throughout but, unfortunately, is deprived of the chance to face off against Voldemort. His knowledge of Wizard's Chess is crucial to the heroes stopping the Dark Lord, though, and he's rightly given 50 house points at the end of the school year for his bravery.

The Deathly Hallows Part 1: 35:45

The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is different from the other Potter movies in the series. Harry, Ron, and Hermione opt against returning to Hogwarts and instead choose to take the fight against Voldemort by hunting his Horcruxes. While they are successful, for the most part, Harry and Ron have yet another big row that casts a dark cloud over things and makes their mission far trickier as a result.

For a while, Ron abandons his two closest confidants. He does this because of the Dark Lord's locket Horcrux, which influences his mood. However, Ron later redeems himself when he saves Harry from the frozen lake. The youngest Weasley boy is also lucky to avoid death at Malfoy Manor, being saved by Dobby the House Elf just as Voldemort's followers look like they are about to gain the upper hand.

The Chamber Of Secrets: 38:15

Topping the list is The Chamber of Secrets. And that shouldn't be too much of a surprise given it's the longest movie in the series. Its runtime of two hours and 54 minutes means there's plenty of time for Ron, who is central to things as Hogwarts finds itself under attack from an unknown and dangerous entity.

He, Harry, and Hermione attempt to get to the bottom of why muggle-borns within the school are being attacked. And they are successful, eventually coming to the truth that Tom Riddle is behind the crisis. They are also able to get Rubeus Hagrid freed from Azkaban prison after he's wrongly imprisoned for Voldemort's crimes.
