Ron Weasley might not be the protagonist of the Harry Potter series, but he is one of the main characters. Ron has many heroic moments throughout the series, and even though he might not be as obviously inspiring as figures like Harry and Hermione, he is inspiring in his own way.

However, he also goes through some sad and traumatic things in the series, and these moments had fans feeling sorry for him.

Inspiring: Having to go back to the Horcrux hunt and ask for forgiveness

Ron Comes Back in Deathly Hallows

When Ron leaves Hermione and Harry while on the Horcrux hunt, it’s a moment that many fans agree with Ron for. The locket Horcrux was impacting Ron greatly, but this decision was still hard to understand.

While it wasn’t a great choice, when Ron tried to make it back to them and had to swallow his pride and apologize, it was the right thing to do. This showed that he could at least own up to his mistakes.

Felt Sorry: When it was revealed by the locket Horcrux what his insecurities were

The locket Horcrux is an item that revealed a lot about Ron and his issues and insecurities.

When he and Harry are trying to destroy it, the Horcrux does reveal some of Ron’s deepest concerns such as that Hermione loves Harry more than him. While most of these doubts are unfounded, it was sad to see this all revealed.

Inspiring: When he was always willing to do whatever it took to help Harry

While Ron might not be a perfect person, he does have a lot of good qualities. He is always by Harry’s side trying to help him, and he goes through many things with him throughout their time at Hogwarts.

He goes with him to get the Sorcerer’s Stone, to the Chamber of Secrets, and more. His loyalty in these moments is definitely inspiring.

Felt Sorry: The times that Draco and others would make fun of his family

Harry Potter The Weasley Family

The Weasleys are one of the most beloved families from the series in the Harry Potter fandom, but in the wizarding world, they have a lot of enemies. Because they are poor and because they stand up to people like the Malfoys, they aren’t very liked by some of the richer wizarding families.

Draco and other people often make comments to Ron about his family that are totally unfair.

Inspiring: Getting over his fear of spiders to go into the Forbidden Forest

One of Ron’s most heroic moments, which shows how brave he is, happens in his second year. When Hagrid tells him and Harry to follow the spiders, it’s not something that Ron wants to hear.

He is really scared of spiders, but he gets over his fears to go into the Forbidden Forest to find out the truth and help save people.

Felt Sorry: Always having to play second fiddle to Harry

While the things Harry goes through because he’s the Chosen One aren’t very fun, it would be difficult to always be second string to your best friend.

While Harry’s fame is complicated, he is very talented, extremely famous, and also rich. This would be hard to always deal with, but, for the most part, Ron doesn’t let it get to him.

Ron shows his skills in strategy when he has to be his own to direct the giant game of Wizard’s Chess, and he also shows how brave he is when he’s willing to sacrifice himself for Hermione and Harry to go on.

Felt Sorry: When he got his leg broken by Sirius

Ron Weasley Scabbers

At the end of the trio’s third year at Hogwarts, they find out the truth about Sirius Black. While Sirius isn’t a bad person, he does end up accidentally breaking Ron’s leg in his aggressive attempts to capture Peter Pettigrew.

This is hard to read about and watch, and it’s definitely a moment that fans felt sorry for Ron.

Inspiring: Sticking up for Hermione when Draco called her a Mudblood

While Ron can sometimes not get along with Hermione, he does care about her a lot. Hermione has to deal with a lot of awful comments of a bigoted nature because she’s Muggle-born.

However, she does have friends like Ron who always stick up for her. Ron is definitely someone who is willing to defend his friends and that is inspiring.

Felt Sorry: Fred dying in the Battle of Hogwarts

While Ron sometimes gets annoyed with his family, it’s clear that he loves them a lot. They are a close family that means a lot to each other, so it’s extremely tragic that Fred dies in the Battle of Hogwarts.

This is one of the most traumatic things to happen to Ron, and it’s extra sad that it happened just before Voldemort was finally defeated.
