Ron Weasley is not perfect. In fact, out of all the members of the main trio, he is easily the least perfect of the bunch. His character represents the underdog, and because of this, the majority of us find it easy to relate to him.

Ultimately, Weasley is our king, but there are definitely instances where he can be a "right foul git". So without further ado, here are some things about Ron Weasley that have not aged well over time.

RON ABANDONS HARRY DURING THE TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT

We get it, Ronald, you're suffering from an inferiority complex. We don't have to be a psychology major to know this much. It's tough when one of your best friends is "the brightest witch of her age" while the other happens to be "the chosen one". That's gotta be rough, especially as a teenager. But this is no excuse to be a terrible friend when the people who are always there for you need you most.

When Harry's name is put into the goblet of fire during the Triwizard tournament, Ron automatically comes to the conclusion that Harry is a narcissistic egomaniac who put his name in there despite the fact that he is underage. What kind of friend is Ron to assume the worst in his BFF with no concrete evidence to back up his accusations?

RON BRINGS HERMIONE TO TEARS ON THE REGULAR

It seems like Ron has a secret game he likes to play where he tallies up the number of times he can make Hermione cry. The worst part is, he is most often filled with too much pride to ever comfort her or apologize for hurting his best friend. Hermione is always going out of her way to try and unleash Ron's greatest potential, and he repays her by bringing her to tears? What is that all about? Can't he see how amazing Hermione is, or does it really have to take him seven books and eight movies to figure that out?

That is your future wife, Weaselbee. You better make up for that childish behavior when you get older. But as we know from Cursed Child, this ceases to be the case when...

RON SHOWS UP WASTED TO HIS OWN WEDDING

It sucks because Hermione is such a role model. She is brilliant, she is stunning, and she is extremely caring. When it comes to her relationship with Ron, she will do anything to make him happy. She even did his homework pretty much all the time throughout their Hogwarts years!

How does he plan on repaying this goddess for his consistent lack of appreciation? Oh, he just shows up absolutely hammered to their wedding. Viktor Krum would probably never do such a thing. At least he knew Hermione's worth back in Goblet of Fire. Ron, on the other hand...

RON ASKED HERMIONE TO THE DANCE AS A "LAST RESORT" BECAUSE HE IS TRASH

Look at Emma goddamn Watson. Is that the kind of person you ask out as a "last resort"? No, it is most certainly not. Ron would be so LUCKY to go to the Yule Ball with the brightest witch of her age, but here he is, asking Hermione to the dance in the most half-assed manner of all time as though his best friend is some kind of an afterthought.

His exact words are "Hermione, you're a girl. It's one thing for a bloke to show up alone, but for a girl it's just sad." These are the beautifully chivalrous words he uses to suggest they go together. Shakespeare would be so proud...

HE BULLIED HERMIONE IN THE SORCERER'S STONE

"No wonder she hasn't got any friends." -Ron Weasley's words to his future wife.

Ron is intimidated by the fact that Hermione is such a brilliant witch, so he puts her down by talking smack about her behind her back in order for him to feel better about himself. He brings her to tears (for the first time out of many instances) and he sends her right into the bathroom stall where a terribly CGI'd troll lurks. Nice going, Wallenby.

HE LEFT HERMIONE CRYING AT THE YULE BALL

We can just mutually agree on the fact that "Goblet of Fire Ron" is the most "right foul git" version of Ron that we're gonna get. Those hormones really took a toll on his manners, and we KNOW Mrs. Weasley would scold Ron for the rest of eternity if she knew how he treated Hermione at The Yule Ball.

Because he was bursting with jealousy over Hermione and Krum, he thought it would be fun to play his favorite little game of "let's make Hermione cry" because why not? Instead of being happy for his "friend" he decides to ruin her night by telling Hermione that Krum is just using her and that there's no way he's actually into her. If he really loved her, wouldn't he want her to be happy?

HE SHUNNED HERMIONE IN HALF-BLOOD PRINCE

In the sixth book, Ron discovered the news about Hermione and Krum "snogging" two years ago in Goblet of Fire. After learning this, he decided to go into full-jerk mode by shunning Hermione out of his life because... she's a human being? This is probably the worst thing Ron has ever done, and he's done a lot of terrible things.

It's not like they were dating back then, and they certainly weren't dating in Half-Blood Prince either. Hermione owed nothing to Ron, yet he acted as though she committed some act of adultery and should be wearing a scarlet letter around Hogwarts.

HE MAKES FUN OF GIRLS FOR THEIR PHYSICAL APPEARANCES

What is wrong with Ron? Seriously. His mother needs to send him a Howler again to put this boy in check. Most emphasized in Goblet of Fire, (no surprise there), Ron can be caught several times making fun of girls for their physical appearances (being overweight and having acne) as he then claims they are going to have a very difficult time finding dates for The Yule Ball. Like Ron's quest to find a date is easy breezy...

Luckily, Professor McGonagall puts Weasley in check by making him dance with her in front of the entire class. Good! Weaselbee deserves it. Git...

HE VALUES A RAT OVER HIS FUTURE WIFE

Remember when Ron completely dropped Hermione as a friend and pretty much isolated her because of a freaking rat? Yeah. Total husband material. Ron had no proof that Hermione's cat Crookshanks ate his pet rat Scabbers, yet even if he did have concrete evidence, it's not like Hermione has any control over the actions of her pet.

She's a thirteen-year-old girl! Isn't she allowed to have a cat if she wants to have one? Ron says Hermione is the one who needs to sort out her priorities when in reality it is Ron who needs to get his priorities in check.

HE DOESN'T TRUST HARRY OR HERMIONE

This is most evident in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when he is under the influence of the Horcrux.  You could certainly argue that he had no control here and that it was the power of the Horcrux that was making him this way, but in all truth, his behavior in The Deathly Hallows when he becomes overtly jealous of the two isn't all too out of character to how Ron normally acts. If we didn't know he was under the influence of the Horcrux when he left Harry and Hermione stranded, we wouldn't find his actions all that surprising. He has consistently acted upon his jealousy throughout the series and has shown patterns of angry/envious behavior many times before. If anything, this scene just highlights the true darkness inside of Ron that has always been there.

Yet at the end of the day, nobody is perfect, and Ron's faults only make him a stronger character. We wouldn't want him to be perfect because in that case, we wouldn't be able to relate to him as the underdog middleman. Despite everything, Weasley will always be our king.
